He will win ... even if he does a rubbish routine tonight .. somehow it will be deemed entertaining.

If Ali's routine is anything less than perfect she'll get all the criticism .. and if she is perfect then it'll be a case of 'it didn't move me' .. 'she wasn't sexy enough'.

Chris couldn't look less sexy during his dancing ... but apparently that's another thing he doesn't have to be.

Or engineering their votes to deliver their preferred outcome.

If its Chris vs Ali vs Ricky next week with Ali topping the judges vote and Ricky second there is NOTHING the public can do to save Chris. He will be out as Ali will never lose to Ricky for 2nd place in the public vote and Chris would never be picked in a dance off over those two!

That is just wrong in my view - the viewers get cheated out of seeing their favourite win!

Actually that's quite a good point, are the men meant to look sexy? Does Chris look sexy? I'm not in a position to judge but I'm not sure he does.

An intelligent man is nearly always sexy - in my opinion.

Hi Nancy, have just learnt something today. Did the elderly Einstein tickle your fancy?

Yes - not always, but it's a big turn on for a lot of women. Add to that the fact that Chris has a great sense of humour, obviously - and overtly - knows how to have fun, is not afraid to make a complete ar$e of himself, and you have quite an appealing package.

No I agree I could never date a humourless but beautiful idiot. It would wear thin very quickly.

However, I wonder why Ali does get a lot of stick over this sexy thing where the blokes don't (and by blokes I mean Chris as I suppose Ricky is ok in this department and gets a lot of positive reforcement of his image from the judges...well Alesha).

He would never be picked in a dance off because he is not as good a dancer as the other two. How is that unfair?

Because the public have picked him as their preferred choice - and in any case why should the judges get two sets of votes and the public one anyway!

I want the public to decide who wins a reality show - not judges or elites. But then I'm an old fashioned guy - let the PEOPLE decide!

But the people do decide...from the best dancers

If you just want it to be a free for all public vote why bother with the judges at all?

Hey! Why not even bother with proper dances? We could just have them come on, do the hokey cokey and vote on that.

There's a big 'meh' factor for Ricky on this forum - which must be at least 90% female. How many times have you seen him labelled 'dull', 'boring', 'no personality'? The conversation amongst his detractors - as far as I can see - has never progressed beyond that point, and from memory, I've never seen a post saying "Well yeah, he's dead sexy - but he's boring".

Ricky is undoubtedly beautiful to look at, but has about as much sex appeal as a - well, I won't say what, but because apart from anything else, I have no desire to upset his supporters. And I mean, none whatsoever. I'm just expressing a personal opinion. However, suffice to say that Ricky has no sex appeal because there's a lack of a certain vital spark. And I'll leave it at that.

As for Ali? A difficult one, that. I remember posting very early on that (in reply to criticisms about her being 'wet') that women - and this is quite a generalisation - warm to other women who have a bit of chutzpah about them. That's possibly why she's been derided in a lot of quarters. Moving on from that, I think maybe there's a degree of frustration amongst some FMs (me included) that she can't get past that 'girly' stuff and be a strong, assertive woman - and exhibiting one's feminine allure, sex appeal, whatever you want to call it - is all part of that. Or something like that.

Sits and waits to be hounded by Ricky and Ali fans.

I don't think the judges are killing the show but it does frustrate me that they have their favourites (usually those who are good technically but lack any personality) and overmark them while undermarking the others.
The idea that they have the power to ensure that it is an Ali and Ricky final is terrible considering that people pay money to vote for the others.

The judges give higher scores to the people who dance well. I am not sure why some people take offence at this The concept that if you dance well you get a good mark is not difficult to grasp.

Also if you dance less well, no matter how 'entertaining' you are, you will not get as good a mark.

You could also say the opposite................If the public are only allowed to choose from between the "best dancers", why have anyone else in the competition, or why have the public vote at all?

Because it is a dance competition ?

If it was a prat around making faces competition I wouldn't be complaining if Chris got more marks than Ricky and Ali and I had to choose between him and someone else.

I'm not saying that Ali doesn't deserve high scores, I was merely suggesting that, IMO, she is overmarked a lot of the time.

IT. IS. NOT. A. DANCE. COMPETITION. Why do some people find this so hard to understand?
It's a light entertainment show, it's not serious so what does it matter if the person who maybe isn't the best technically wins? He is the most entertaining.

A lot of the time? I think not. And it is not confined to Ali. Chris got a 9 for his dreadful paso, just as an example, so the judges being erratic effects everyone.

On a very simplistic level - why does Tess ask for us to vote for our favourite to keep them in the "competition" if, as you shout, it is not a competition?

As someone, I can't remember who, said on another thread the other day, it is not a "dance competition", it is a "learning to dance" competition, so progression is an important element.

A show on which couples are judged on their dancing (I decided not to do the patronising capitals as I have more manners). The public decides on who they find entertaining but the judges do not, they judge on the dancing.

I am not sure why some people find this so hard to understand

I think she is a lot of the time, and as I said, it's my opinion, which is clearly very different from yours. What about the 10she got for the group vienesse waltz? Totally undeserved seeing as her and Brian cut everyone off by dancing through the middle of the dancefloor and crashed into two of the couples.

That's a subjective and interesting interpretation - others may disagree and say it's purely & simply a dance contest.
