Would the judges save Ricky over Laila or Chris in a dance off - I doubt it.

Only way Ricky goes is if he's up against Ali and that would require Laila to beat Ali in the public vote. Chris fans - you know what you need to do tonight and that's vote for Laila as well as him!

Solid sense Starpuss

If, tonight, they all dance to the very best of their ability then Ricky & Ali will get higher scores than Chris & Laila because they're better dancers across the two disciplines & the judges will score accordingly - which is their job - to score the dancing - not to appease the masses.

The public can then have its say.

Which can then be totally overriden by the judges anyway - if you are going to ignore the public vote why bother having it until the final 2.

We have had 11 weeks of judges deciding who stays and gos via the dance off and we know what they think - the BBC should at least trust the public for the final 3 weeks.

I agree that the DO should stop at the QF - but fans of the show have been saying this ad nauseum to the BBC ever since it was introduced but it stokes controversy and heightens interest - ergo it stays.

I'm not uptight, I just don't have this urge to annoy the judges, that doesn't hold any entertainment value for me to be petty. I didn't particularly like seeing their dilemma over Ali Vs Zoe either but it didn't give me a sleepless night. I watch the show, I vote for my fave, I get a little sad if one if my faves leave (like I did with Gethin) but then I just look forward to the next week's show. No hystrionics, no drama, , no ridiculous conspiracy theories, no petty vendettas...just merely enjoying my favourite dance show and hoping my favourite wins. If they don't, it ain't the end of the world.”

Now, now that's very naughty, where did I insult you?
Your post smacks of deliberate misrepresentation . i simply stated what I was, not what you were which is exactly the approach you took with me. Sauce for the goose and all that .

All this puerile wouldn't-it-be-soooo-hilarious-if-we-vote-'wackily'-just-to-see-the-look-on-someone's-face nonsense does is to create serious doubts about the theory that the televote determines which couple is the most entertaining...and leaves me wondering exactly how big the tedious anti-judge / vote-for-the-worst vote is.

IF I was a voter, I'd feel rather feeble-minded if I allowed myself to be so easily manipulated by the opinion of other people...judges or otherwise.

A risky thing to do, bearing in mind it might just make Laila safe instead of Chris.

LOL it's just a tv show. I think it would be hilarious and I can assure you I'm not in the least feeble minded

I must have missed something here Ricky has consistently scored higher than Chris or Laila throughout the show. If he performed to a high standard in a dance off against either of those two then I cannot comprehend how the judges would not save him over inferior performers who even at their best have not reached his consistant high marks

Nor justify saving a stronger dancer tbh

Don`t understand why someone would want to throw away their money just to pee off the judges

Schadenfreude...in a word.

It's a big and unattractive feature of RTV.

It would be quite entertaining, as long as Ali stayed though.

No I want a DO with worst 2 dances of the night.

Live by the sword, you die by the sword.

All part of the game. Should the public not keep their part of the bargain?

Heh.

I don't want a Ricky/Ali DO because they are the best dancers (I also think three couple finals are better though), but the reaction of the judges to a Ricky/Ali DO would be extremely amusing in a car crash TV sense.

It has nothing to do with spiting the judges (whose opinions I usually respect/agree with); it would be some kind of bizarre "which judge can sound the most digusted" competition.

Well said, don't think anyone can claim the moral high ground just because some of us would like to see the judges noses rubbed in their own doo doo

...kill the show for me then if that were to happen.

I want to see, watch and appreciate skill, grace, elegance, litheness, imagination etc as opposed to a wooden plank trying to move two left feet in time to music and make a laughing stock out of the beauty of dance and the pleasure it makes me feel to watch such art and creativity

Yes - and damages ratings as an Ali vs Ricky final will get fewer ratings than one involving Chris. Surely the Beeb should have woken up last year - without Tom in the final they would have lost a packet on phone votes and viewers too.

you implied I was uptight and deny you didn't mean me all you want. All I can say is thankfully I'm not a hypocrite. I challenged you last week asking if you were indignant on ricky or ali's behalf as they could also equally be at risk if they were the public fave and were in the DO in the SF and you said you would... Now you are begging for a Ali/ricky DO...now that smacks of hypocrisy to me!

Why would more people watch the final if Chris is in it
It make me watch it more I'd be less likely to watch if Ricky isn't in it

But as the BBC have now made very clear, this is an entertainment show, not a technical dance contest.

I hate the idea of this and would love this to be on technical content and interpretation of dance, but we are stuck with an "entertainment" show and therefor the 3 most popular will be in the semi final.

Woaaah ! Now why the personal attack, your post is way out of line. This thread is a discussion please treat it with the respect the forum regs require. As far as I can see noone has accused you of anything and I cannot for the life of me understand the aggressive tone of your post.
Perhaps it's best to agree to disagree?
For me an Ali Ricky DO would be both dramatic and hilarious, i have no beef against them personally and it really is highly unlikely to happen. Nowhere have I begged or expressed indignation or insulted you I can only interpret this as misguided misrepresentation at best.

Well the answer to the thread title looking at the scores tonight would seem to be a resounding no!
