Samsung Jet or Blackberry Curve 8530
I'm looking at replacing my Samsung F400 for the new year, which I must say has served me brilliantly well over the last year, it has never failed me once and I'm a very heavy user of the device.
I'm thinking of upgrading to something fresh. Which one of the above in the title would you recommend most? I'm a heavy texter, I listen to music on the move, I use the wap/internet daily to browse sites like facebook and enjoy taking the odd picture now and again. Which device would suit me more? Any other suggestions welcome aswell (aslong as it's not a Sony Ericsson), had a nightmare phone with them previously. ![]() Price range ideally around £200 pounds. |

I've been having the same kind of dilemma myself but couldn't choose between the Jet and the Nokia 5800, after watching quite a few reviews on youtube and reading a positive review at gsmarena I've finally made the decision to go with the Jet.
The amazing AMOLED screen, quality camera, fantastic browser with full flash support and the smart unlock feature all helped make my mind up. If you do get a Jet try and get an unbranded one, versions flashed with vodafone/orange firmware have had problems apparently. So I phoned CPWH today and asked if I buy it on O2 PAYG will the handset be unlocked and the fella on the other end said "Yes, I can guarantee that". I'll be picking mine up in the week.

![]() Before getting the phone I was especially worried about the wi-fi connectivity but I shouldn't of been, it was a breeze. The only information I had to put in was to change the encryption type to 128bit and enter my pass, it then connected first time and I was able to browse with ease. Also whenever I reconnect to the wi-fi now it automatically joins my network. If you've got any questions about specific things then feel free to ask. So far in the very short time I've had it I've been very pleased. |

Well Tom I went and got myself a Jet earlier from the CPWH and so far I'm very happy with it. Bought it on O2 PAYG and the phone is indeed unlocked and unbranded.

Haven't used it on 3G yet as I'm at home and wi-fi is free, when I do though I'll let you know.

I finally decided to get a Jet the weekend before last. I've had it for just over one week now and I am extremely pleased with it. The supposed "inferior" resisitive touchscreen is actually very responsive and user-friendly. It's not as slick as the capacitive screen on my iPod Touch but it's up there.
I also bought mine from CPWH like you deltaforce and it was on 02 payg. £170 altogether including a £10 top-up. When I got the phone I simply put my current sim card in it and put the new one in my now defunct LG Viewty (RIP). I am liking the widgets a lot and have customised my three screens exactly how I want them. The phonebook is great, with endless room for all kinds of information on your contacts. Messaging is so easy, predictive text or with a qwerty key pad its very quick and responsive. The camera seems pretty decent too. Web browsing is also very pleasing. Again perhaps not as smooth as on my iPod Touch's Safari Browser but it is still very good. Regards my own inquiries a about how it is over 3G. Well it's quick.Unlike when my sim was in the viewty and I very rarely got the 3G signal I get it much more often with the Jet. It's not always there, sometimes I'm on Edge or GSM (or whatever its called) but it does seem much more reliable. Ob I even managed to set up the phone to receive and send emails from my Hotmail account. I say receive and send, however all the phone is able to do seemingly is receive. I just can't send emails from my phone for some reason. Started a thread here about it but so far no response so I guess everyone else is as clueless as me with regards what the problem might be. |
