Judging panel dynamics

Does anyone else feel that that the judging was more consistent tonight than it has been all season?

I am a huge fan of Alesha but I have thought that her scores have been slighty on the high side (possibly due to her inexperience as a dance judge?)

However, tonight Darcey at least matched her or scored higher - does this prove that Alesha has pitched her marks right this year and the boys have been harsh?

I do feel that Alesha has been criticised unfairly - so is it about time we gave her a break?

I'd say the scoring was more predictable with five judges rather than more consistent.

Not more consistent at all...but as usual they ranked the couples correctly overall...which is by far the most important task for the judging panel.

Alesha has been the most annoying judge this year by a margin...and that's no mean 'achievement'.

Darcey Bussell admitted herself she knows nothing about ballroom and latin so her scores are as meaningless as Alesha's.

Maybe so, but is that because she's different to what we're used to - so we catergorise her as annoying rather than an alternative perspective?

I honestly expected Darcey to be very technically minded and quite harsh when it came to her judging but it didn't really materialise tonight.

I think people forget that Alesha was judged, criticised and praised by the same judges when she competed, so therefore knows more than anyone what the expectations are at this stage of the competition.

Empathy and understanding go a long way in my eyes - maybe more so than overall technical knowledge.

Yes, but I think that's inevitable by this stage anyway - the scores wil tend to congregate with little variation between judges at this point. So I'm not sure if we can point to any impact from Darcey's presence.

Perhaps we should have a public vote next week to decide which judge to evict before the final - next week's public vote for the celebs is irrelevant as Chris will go even if he tops the public vote!

Do you think?

I'm quite glad the judges had some sense this week
