The judges know all about the public support for Chris .. if they don't start upping their scores for him now .. it's going to look tragic if he wins (only averaging scores in the 20's).

He hardly did any Samba steps .. Ali would not have been allowed that indulgence.

But equally Ali failed to the perform the dance (although it wasn't quite as tragic as her attempt at an angry face in the tango).

The whole point of the Samba is for it to be the carnival dance of Brazil. Nothing in Ali's was like a carnival. Chris didn't have the same technique but my goodness did he actually sell the dance properly. Particularly impressive since he's the only non-actor left in the group!

Dance isn't just a technical medium, it's an entertainment one too. Chris and Ali both have their strengths and weaknesses.

Ali wouldn't have got away with having fewer steps because she didn't perform what she did have. Equally, Chris wouldn't have got the praise he did if he didn't make up for his fewer steps (and that is fewer, not none - for example he did some good samba rolls) by really get the right feel of the dance across.

Yes she was she did a Samba that wasnt even a latin dance it was a 'ballroom' samba done to slow music.......the Samba is a Brazilian party dance not a Brighton tea dance, so she WAS indulged.

Yup, I get that. What puzzles me is why people think there's some massive conspiracy to do other than have the 2 best couples in the dance off.

I would like to keep all three left, including Chris. Good final.

Well said, Ricky may be technically good when he gets it right but you never know whether he's going to. Ali is technically very good but walking proof to me that you really do need to add in some x factor (excuse the phrase!) to make it magical.

Yes, I could live with that but without Chris - NO.

The show hasn't done that great in the ratings as it is and last night's results show was an unimpressed 7.3million. Getting rid of the clear public favourite would be commercial suicide.

Actually, based upon the clear audience reaction last night, there'll all but be a riot in the studio next week if the judges toss Chris out!”

Quite agree with you. I for one wont be watching if Chris is not in the final and I probably won't be alone. However, the BBC don't seem to take any notice of what the public think they just bowl along in their own sweet way. If they have a dance off, then the odds are too stacked against Chris and I think that they will lose voters in the final if Chris doesn't get through.

Surely the BBC cant be that stupid can they.”

..... exactly and if Chris won, the BBC Breakfast ratings would rise considerbly. He could be the male Natasha Kaplinsky if he did win i.e. the Beebs new golden boy presenter.

Surely they must know that getting rid of Chris would be a bad move in more ways than one.

I don't think I'd watch if Chris is in the final. I have to confess to liking to see a good dancer win.

If it's a Chris v Ali final I will watch something else I switched off last year when Lisa & Brendan left as I knew Tom would win and could see no point in carrying on watching

I'm just fine; often around but I don't post so often at the present.

Actually, I don't think I would be thrilled by a Ricky/Chris final. Either way, if Chris makes it to the final then he wins and I dislike seeing a fairly mediocre dancer beating someone who dances really well. It would be Darren Gough all over again for me!

I realise that public popularity is the deciding element and I also know that in the grand scheme of things it matters very little which is why I probably wouldn't bother to watch a two person final with Chris in it. It would be almost a foregone conclusion and not a result that I, personally, would enjoy.

Hope you are keeping well too. I don't seem to see you on the forum as much either.

I just hope Chris is wearing body armour to repel all the knives that are out for him on this forum.

Noone on here is claiming this competition is the world championships, but I am allowed to enjoy the dance tecnique and comment in here if I wish. I love ballroom and Latin, I learnt it as a teen and I love the amazing routines that we see. I don't think it is unreasonable for some people to appreciate Strictly Come Dancing as literally a Dancing competition and I do think it is unreasonable to be mocked for appreciating technical excellence.”

But it's not just 'the people on here' that treat SDC as a Saturday night light dancertainment show is it? It's the BBC themselves and also the vast majority of people who watch it - and apparently vote - and who don't come near DS!

It's not a new phenomenon - it's been going for as long as Strictly has it's just that people have decided to get more uptight about it over the last couple of years.

Why should we get rid of him? He has done nothing wrong, no reason to be "got rid of"?

Whilst i agree he's not as technical as Ali or Ricky, at least he puts his all into his dances and looks like he's enjoying every minute! Take a look at who hasn't been in the dance off..that should tell you something. My votes as usual will be going to Chris.

That's entirely your perogative, but was there really any need to come on here and announce it (and try to dictate to others what they should do?).

I swear, this place becomes more like a playground every year.

Count me in Sid.....does this mean we are a 'cult' and you have brain washed us to vote for Chris who is ofcourse the worst dancer ever in the world ever to grace the strictly dance floor you would think so by some of threads....we are either delusional in the same league as Craig Kelly or that we are part of some mass plan by the BBC
