I recall slightly before the series started that the BBC said there would not be a 2-couple final. Considering the implications (popular dancer VS technically best ballroom and latin, i.e not Ali, dancer)

I'm sure I read once that they would do everything they could to ensure there would not be another 2 couple final but I can't find it now. Someone posted it when Jade dropped out because there was discussion over whether Phil would be brought back.
I think it discussed there being the option of having a former couple returning or points being carried over for a week. I just don't get why they didn't do the latter a couple of weeks ago. A 3 couple final would be so much better.

Agree, 2-couple finals are nowhere near as good. IMO, votes should be carried into the next week so we can enjoy the final. God, this series needs it so it can go out with a bang instead of a whimper.

I've now got to the point where I don't actually care who wins - for the first time ever.

What I would love to see, however, is Chris in the final so that he gets to do a show dance. I fully accept that Ricky and Ali are better technically, but he is the one I get the most enjoyment out of watching (and I say this as someone who has previously supported the best dancers and even been inspired to take it up myself).

So the best thing from my perspective would be a three-couple final where they all get to do everything, and then I really don't mind who wins.
