Quite. Especially if she's sporting that fright wig look.

I quite like Lily Allen

Well no that's not quite right, I don't like Lily Allen but I like her music. Think her latest album is fab, I can listen but not watch.

I LOVE Lilly Allen! I'm so looking forward to her being on the show. I think her music is great - which greatly amuses my kids - and i think she'll be a breath of fresh air in a show that sadly sometimes shoots itself in the foot with it's guest stars. Bette Midler was wonderful last night but as someone else mentioned, the once great Andy Williams was just embarrassing. Must too old and sadly - unlike Tony Bennet, a former guest - very much past his sell-by date.

I agree. At last we have a guest from the current millennium. Lily Allen may not be the greatest singer, but she must be one of the finest pop lyricists around today.
I like her stuff..witty, sarcastic, melancholy etc... and sometimes downright rude.

Lily Allan, heaven save us from "Ghetto tourists."

The fact that she's popular with some young people shows how low are musical aspirations these days.

Thankfully I'm missing next week's show so I'll just skip through her 'singing' on iPlayer.

Young people ?..God forbid. Let's stick with the usual coffin-dodgers that the BBC have commissioned in the past.
I can't wait to see Andy Williams and the Bee Gees again.

The lack of audience reaction when Brucie anounced it was deafening

Do me a favour, don't try to turn it into a "feast or famine" situation, that impresses no one.

At least the BBC in the past have had Harry Connick Jr. and Michael Bublé whose styles are more suited to ballroom than a lot of other choices.

Lily Allen is a talent in a sea of manufactured stars. Whether you like her or her music - she is original. She is also giving up music to concentrate on encouraging others who cannot get record contracts because of the way the industry has gone - one chance at number one and your out! I like her music but, even those that don't, ought to give her some credit for her originality and thinking of others.

My post was tongue in cheek.
I agree, the guys you mention are more suited to the nature of the programme..basically middle of the road crooners, but very good ones. I just think the guest star each week could reflect something a bit different. I don't see anything wrong with having Kings of Leon, Lady Gaga, The Black Eyed Peas etc..they have all produced excellent dance tracks.

I disagree, she's a "Ghetto Tourist." She's as "manufactured" as any. The fact that she's done much of it herself, doesn't alter the situation.

I like some of her stuff.

But she does suit the show in a way. She's another one who can't actually sing! So no change there. Admittedly Andy Williams COULD sing when he was her age.

made the mistake of going to see her set at t in the park this year. due to her ehmm lovely personality she managed to have almost everyone boo her 10 minutes into it and told us all to F*** OFF (which we did to find another act with some talent). lighting up a ciggy after 2 songs, what a pleb, could she not have hung off for 40 minutes.

But most of her songs are just a comment on British life in general..I don't recall anything where she suggested that she had come up from the gutter, was a victim of abuse, or ran with the Islington Massif.
Actually, come to think of it, that accusation could be levelled more accurately at dozens of other singers before you get to Lily. Most of her lyrics are about the mundane nature of life..at least that's the way I see it.

Err..
Just listen to her speech. She didn't learn to speak like that at any of her posh schools.

But if you like her, that's fine by me.
