I'm a bit at a loss here. Why are there so many anti-Chris threads today? He was not bottom of the leaderboard and went through against a better dancer; in fact the couple in the bottom of the leaderboard went out (quite rightly so).

Why are we not discussing the quality of the dances last night? I'm not a Ricky fan, but I thought both his Foxtrott and ChaChaCha were rather good. Shame he ended up in the dance-off, but we all know that the person at the top can be vulnerable at this point in the proceedings (e.g. people vote for the lower couples).

As Chris and Ola fan, I enjoyed their dances (the samba more than the Waltz I think).

I was sorry for Laila and Anton, obviously something went wrong in their AS (she was quite defeatist about it).

I was a bit underwhelmed by Ali's dances. I think the Tango does not suit her sweet nature (although she tried quite hard), and I think they had the wrong music for the samba (although I'm happy to acknowledge that it was technically better than Chris's).

Generally if people only think that their favourite can win if Chris disappears, that's rather a sad state of affair. SCD has always been a mixture of dance-ability and personality, and I'm pleased we have different abilities and likeabilities in the competition.

Not only do you not have to understand it, you don't have to admit it even if you do.

It always ends up happening sometime or other on SCD, fans of one couple get really hot under the collar because of unjust marking/criticism/position on leader board/judges trying to influence outcome etc, which leads to nasty comments directed at another couple. Their fans retaliate and it all gets into a vicious circle.

I have my favouite couple but I do try to appreciate the talent of others.

I know I just wanted to start a thread that discusses some positive aspects and concentrates on the dances, but even that seems to have backfired. I actually enjoyed yesterday's show and I thought that the dances were at a good standard.

I was disappointed with Ali's tango last night and very surprised she didn't land in the dance off last night. I enjoyed her samba and i enjoyed Chris's too. I enjoyed both of Ricky's dances this week but still just don't like his partner (i know its wrong but its how i feel), this i feel detracts from the pleasure of their dances as i don't like the partnership. Laila is beautiful and i always think she's going to do really well, she just didn't seem to have any confidence last night (not surprised after the VT) but i did think their DO AS was lovely and a really nice way for them to say goodbye to the show.

Thats my feelings on the show, i dont' want to get sucked into the nastiness.

My ideal final would have been Jade, Ali and either Chris or Phil and any of those winners would make a good series for me. Clearly thats not to be and if either Ali or Chris don't make final/or don't win i won't throw my toys out of the pram.

I thought Ricky was rather marvellous last night - and I thought he put a bit of soul into his dancing. And I'm someone who's always found him a bit of a personality-free zone. Super duper mega marks from me.

I thought Ali was technically great (er... not that I've got much sophisticated knowledge) and I applaud her for that. But the dances didn't suit her. On close ups, you can see that she is really trying to put across the character of the dance, but somehow that character doesn't project further than the tiny space between her and Brian. That's the best way I can describe how she makes me feel. It's wonderful when it's a romantic and intimate dance, because the way she is draws you in to that 'private' space. It's less wonderful when it's an aggressive or party atmosphere, because she doesn't throw it out there somehow. Despite all that though, she's a lovely dancer and seems like a nice girl, so all my feelings towards her are positive.

Chris is clearly less able - less precise technically, and with a more limited range of steps that he can attempt. But he engages me every single time. You want people to be in the zone, and Chris is so in the zone that it puts me right in it too - and I don't think you can ask any more from a performer than that.

Laila I thought was better in the AS than the judges said. She was the worst on the night and deserved to go, but she and Anton went with such dignity and charm that I felt absolutely sad SOMEONE had to go. So three cheers for them.

Don't take it to heart, this FM's posts seem to be generally in this vein. Shows a weakness in their argument really, that is if they ever stated it.

By the way Indigomoon, thanks for that. To be truthful, I was wondering what I had done wrong to get someone onto my case like that. Never really happened before, so I was a bit shocked.

No I don't think I need to harden up at all. I normally don't frequent boards that are particularly nasty, I use the forums because I love strictly and because I love to talk to people who share my interest. I normally go by the rules that forum members should show respect to each other. What did annoy me specifically, was that I had not started a particularly contentious thread or made a particularly contentious statement. There was no need to be just negative without clarifying this negativity.

I had my share of banter or arguments on here as well. What annoys me is that people think they can be nasty on a Forum because it's anonymous. Anyway, water under the bridge, my attempt at starting something positive did not work anyway.

I have read some awful things on this forum and not just recently either. Some of the things said about Natalie C were just horrible (and I say that as someone who wasn't very keen on her at all).

I am not sure why people do it. There are some bitter twisted folks out there!

Don't expect consistant "in depth" responses about a programme which at its best is only just a bit of entertainment.
I think the response you got was quite an objective opinion couched in an amusing way.

If the response you sometimes get is not one you appreciate, but makes no personal reference to you, it's bad form to be sarcastic back at them.

Some though can't; "separate post from poster."

I dont' expect indepth answers, but I don't expect single sentences replying to the title of my thread rather than my openening post. I didn't think it was amusing, it was intended to wind up Chris supporters, but that's only my opinion. Considering that my thread wasn't intended as a Chris love-fest, but an attempt to talk about dancing, I was surprised that I would get Chris negativity (and nothing else) in the first reply. However, I will agree that I was sarcastic in my original reply, which was probably not called for either.

I think it was a big mistake to separate out the appreciation threads from the rest of the forum. I think if people had an obvious place to go to express their love for their favorite couple, they wouldn't start so many hate threads (even though many of those threads are masked by "I was just asking an innocent question!").

I agree with the above sentiments that the forum has been way too nasty and negative this series.
