Did anyone else notice Derek Hough sitting in the front row of the audience at last night's SCD. Wonder how he compared SCD to DWTS?

He tweeted 2 pictures while he was there and said that it was 'different' but didn't elaborate. His Twitter is here:

He spends quite a bit of time over here doesn't he? May just have been a coincidence but I wonder if he's in the frame for a stint as an SCD pro?

I'd love for him to join the show. I hope he liked it.

Which side was he sitting on?

He put on twitter that this is his first time in London in 2 years. He also wrote that he was over here for "work", whatever that may be. I would love him to do a dance on SCD or be one of the pro's - Derek is my fave DWTS pro

Apart from singing, Derek does a lot of stage work, so that could be why he is in UK.

I know he's doing some sort of choreographing for Cheryl Cole although I'm not quite sure what.

I, for one, would love to see him dance on SCD!!

I think Derek would be great on Strictly. He is very creative with his choreography, and imaginative, and really plays to his pro's strengths. I think he's also really good at building his pro's confidence and general love and joy of dancing.

I've have always felt just to keep the shows interesting if they would switch off pros every now and then. In other words you would still be able to see your favorite pro dance but in a different venue. I enjoy watching the pros and how they work with their celebrity partner as much as the celebrity themselves. I am sure they would have to adapt in the differences in production and expectations and it would be a challenge for them as well. I like watching them go the process. I am not so sure the general SCD fanbase would go for it though and there would probably be outrage on the message boards.

Derek can be over the top in his mannerisms which can turn people off but you cannot deny he is excellent at choreography and working well with his partner. I would love to see Maks deal with Craig, haha.

DWTS is more used to new pros coming into the rotation and I think one of the SCD pros would be a big hit and would add a new dimension to the show. On DWTS would get to see some truly elegant ballroom which I think all the SCD pros have mastered. I would love it if they brought one of them over to do the spring season.

Interesting post. I think the inclusion of Brian last year brought a different element to SCD. Defo think one of the Strictly pairings would add something different to DWTS.

The beeb doen't need to make tons of changes just to keep the show fresh, as you say, rotating the professionals and bringing in new profs keeps it fesh, especially if the profs are already known to fans through other dancing shows.

So, yeah, Derek would be excellent for the next SCD series.

Have to watch Cheryl Cole's show tonight:

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz...V-special.html

I find it interesting that she had to import a dancer from DWTS rather than using one of the pros from Strictly. Maybe they aren't allowed to appear on ITV? Or maybe Simon Cowell put the block on it.

Anyway, whatever the reason, it's going to be lovely to see Derek over here. I'd love it if he appeared on ITT but I guess he's already gone back to the USA as this was recorded during the week.

Thanks for that link. I wonder if Cheryl chose him or if it was the producers who made the call to bring him over? I wonder if she knew who he was? They look good together in the pictures. He always look good with a brunette.

Derek reminds me of a young Robert Redford.

Derek has done alot of video work though hasn't he and if they want to sell that show say to the USA Derek is a better choice for that purpose.

Would love to see him or Mark on SCD as they were trained and danced here as juniors they have the right experience in the style danced here too

Ah, makes sense now. All part of the Cowell master plan to get Cheryl Cole recognised in the USA. I believe there is talk of an American version of XF and he wants her to be one of the judges but she'd have to lose the Geordie accent first.

Obviously Derek does not read the British tabloids as he twittered this:

Hey everyone .. Not sure where the rumor came from but I have no intensions moving back to London ..
34 minutes ago from Tweetie
Seems the fans on the US message boards are worried about losing him. I wouldn't mind him doing SCD one bit except for the restrictions on watching the programme (both SCD and ITT) outside of the UK which are so rigid.

I wonder if Derek did all the choreography for that? Rubbish song, but I suppose the dancing wasn't bad. I can't believe they brought him over from the USA especially for that! And he didn't even get to appear on ITT.
