He is a terrible latin dancer, that Salsa was woeful.
I think his ballroom is gorgeous, but thats not enough imo. The profesionals should strong at everything.

I dont think Laila learn't anyhing about latin from Anton, that Salsa was not even good enough for week 1 let alone QF.

I think he will be invited back because he's clearly very popular.

But I don't think I'll ever see him as a serious contender.

Couldn't agree more - it is unfair on his partner and puts them at an instant disadvantage.

It seems obvious that Anton himself can't stand to dance Latin and it rubbed off on Laila

I like Anton but his latin is a bit embarassing to watch.

His latin is no worse than Natalie's.

Natalie is clearly better at ballroom but her Latin is still in a different league from Anton's

There have been male celebrities who are better than Anton

I'd be surprised if the BBC didn't have plans for Anton, so he'll have no need of a full time dance teaching job between September and Christmas.

I'd be gutted if I was a celeb and I got Anton. His latin is so bad.

I think if he does come back and personally I'd rather he didn't he should be only given the no-hopers. Then at least he doesn't acutally knack anyone's chances of doing well.

He's had the best run in the show for quite some time and although Laila did mess up a few times she's among the better partners he's had dancewise. I think that might have revitalised taking part if he and/or the BBC were having second thoughts.

I believe he simply isn't qualified to appear on the show. Laila had no real chance with him, at times she looked better than he did.

I think he'll be invited back because he's so popular and has a huge personality, but I think he'll always be given no-hopers again. They won't give him someone like Laila again.

I so hope he comes back because if he doesn't, Erin won't either and I'd be gutted if she left.

I hope he does, I really like the guy he's one of the reasons I watch. I'm very meh about all the other pro's.

I don't understand why people say his Latin is terrible, it's not that bad and certainly not worse than any male celebrity.

I don't mind him being there as long as he's given someone with zero dancing talent. Someone he can't hinder.

Much as I like Anton, he has become more of a clown than a dancer.

It really is "pity the poor celeb who gets him". They are doomed from the start.

I would however like to see him replace Bruce who wonderful as he is, is well past his sell by date.

I remember thinking last night that Laila's atrocious performance in the Salsa had rather distracted from Anton's own terrible perfomance!

besides the dancing he is also showing signs of it being a bit much dance wise too his ballroom not as good as it has been in previous years

I'm not saying they need to get rid of him but his Latin is poor especially in comparison to his Ballroom. It let Laila down. I wish he'd put his chest away everytime he attempted a Latin dance.

His Latin is cringeworthy. I think he's far more suited to a presenting role. If Bruce ever steps down, Anton should be the one to replace him.

His latin isn't good enough, and the solution of pairing him with a no-hoper celeb wouldn't be fair on the celeb (or would backfire if the celeb turns out to be a contender).

Some of the female pros aren't spectacular at latin either, but it seems to be easier for female dancers to conceal their (relative) lack of ability than the men (possibly something to do with most female dancers having solo skills from general dance training).

how is natalie terrible at latin may i ask?

There is clearly a 'cull' of female professional dancers when they reach a certain age. Anton is now 40+ and should be retired off.

Oh you're brave, challenging one of DS forum's cherished myths. Despite all evidence to the contrary (in fact, he gets less gifted celebs to stages of the competition few could dream of time after time), the party line is that Anton is somehow substandard and celebs have no hope with him. In fact, overall I believe his series average (according to Monkseal who knows these things) is actually better in terms of placement than for eg the sainted (on this forum) Matthew Cutler. Although younger and much prettier than some previous partners, there is, in fact zero evidence for the proposition that Laila ever had much hope of winning/getting very far with or without another pro.
PS - he'll be back as long as he doesn't get a better offer.

Please tell me what is wrong with his Latin and what it should look like.

I do not disbelieve/believe anyone's opinion, I genuinely don't know what to look out for.

I think if Anton want to retire with dignity he should make this his last SCD . I really believe Laila would have got a better chance of being there to the end with another pro.
