I hope so and the sooner the better. Dear old Brucie has done a great job over the years but he is well past his sell by date now and should retire gracefully. Maybe just appearing as a guest for the final or something like that.

I'm sorry but yes,i think it is time Anton retired.I'm sure he's doing well enough outside of the show ,with all his tv shows & dance tours with Erin, to retire from SCD with dignanty.(sp)

Yep he should replace brucie, he is a good chracter and would be missed so him presenting would be a win win.

But he SHOULD NOT be invited back as a pro when his latin is about on par with a half decent celeb.

Laila was very lucky to get as far as she did, and I genuinely believe that it was Anton's popularity that got her through most weeks, so if she had had another pro I think we'd have seen the last of her around the same time Zoe left.

Anton is an entertainer in the old fashioned sense and I for one think the show would be less entertaining without him.

I will be keeping my fingers crossed that he comes back next year, and seriously who would all the venomous spiteful people on these forums moan about if he left? They'd be forced to say nice things about people or move onto some other poor subject for their scorn. Can't wait!

I want to see him off TV: full stop. He's under par at Latin, arrogant and thinks he's bigger than the show. His remarks earlier this season show that foot in mouth is his usual mode.

He's the most deeply unfunny man I've ever seen on TV and I was delighted when he and Laila were voted off last night.

I think she's an immature, whining little madam anyway. They were probably well suited.

That is one cross post.

Did you have a bad evening or something?

I think the opposite about Laila
Laila let him down by a mile she needed to put in much more effort, I think she has to be the laziest celeb he has has and that salsa could have been ok if she had remembered the steps and put a bit more action into it.

I hope he comes back

Laila was useless as a celeb dancer, I am suprised she got as far as she did and feel that it was only because of Anton that she wasn't out earlier. Had she been with JJ she would have been out much much sooner.

I think Anton looked bad because Laila went wrong and he had to sort of make it look like she hadn't, if you know what I mean.

How about Anton and Erin to replace cringeworthy Bruce and the awful Tess next year?

And as for dancers to go? Kristina, please, she adds nothing to the show.

I think so too - much as I think Laila is gorgeous to look at, full of style and grace in Ballroom, she was the one with the problem re Latin.

Anton would never show up his partner by dancing to his own full potential and indeed whenever I saw the 2 of them dancing a Latin, he was watching Laila carefully, ready to guide her when needed.

I loved his quip re the Charleston being interactive as opposed to dancing together - "I was just grateful that when I turned round she was there!" [where she should be]

I hope so I love Anton, I even watch that goddamn awful Hole in the Wall now whilst waiting for Strictly (but let's just keep that fact inside these forum walls eh?)

I'd hate to see that, he's very me me bloody me, he always has to comment whether with judges or with Tess, instead of leaving the space for the partner, he hogs the time for himself and his silly witticisms.

There's an inherent contradiction in your post! If he thinks he's too big for the programme then why would he do it?! It's a huge part of his year taken up when he can't do anything else and when he can't earn as well as he can from other things he does. I have always thought that his commitment to the programme was stronger than most; look at people like Karen Hardy and Paul Killik who decided they'd had enough, not to mention Camilla. And you might think hes unfunny but there are many who disagree so unless you are the DG if the BBC then your opinion only counts the same as everyone else's.

Frankly he's been on of the few things worth watching about this lame series 7. His 'career' comment to Tess was the highlight of the series for me. And a number of Laila's and his dances have been very good; foxtrot, tango, paso and charleston and even Saturday's AS in the dance-off.

The show is not just about dancing, otherwise there wouldn't be so many people on these boards saying it's a dance show but not supporting the best two dancers in it! It is also about entertainment and there's been little of that this series so don't ditch one of the people who provides it!

Maybe another partner would challenge her more and she'd learn more.

Ta.”

For a start Latin is in the legs and hand movements are supplementary - an embellishment. He didn’t even teach Laila to transfer her weight on the basic step. That would have meant that her hip action continued automatically and didn’t come to a grinding halt when ever they tried a not very complex addition such as using their arms.

We could see this from her opening segment. It looked good but since she hadn’t mastered this basic technique (And when I say basic I mean literally taught on the first class) it was obvious it was all going to flounder. However the fact that she can move her hips rhythmically proves that she should, with a decent teacher be able to master Latin – as transferring you weight and dancing into the floor isn’t rocket science.

Women dancers in Latin shouldn’t have to worry about their hands when being held as this is the males job as it is the male's job to add in the patterns. So all the awkward hand movements were Anton’s fault rather than Laila's.

She forgot her steps but he clearly was rubbish at leading a latin dance and hadn't taught her the basics anyway.

As to him coming back. What is the point of a pro who can't be teamed with non-whites and also has to avoid those with a decent chance of winning as he would be seen as a liability because of his refusal to take his job professionally.

On the plus side however his salsa was one of the most hilarious I have seen in a long while.

I would be gutted if he left. TBH it really wound me up when Laila kept saying 'we' this and 'we' that when she was saying how bad SHE was. She is a beautiful lady with a beautiful figure and looked like she had potential at the beginning even Anton thought he had a chance of winning. But her stubborness bought them down and her laziness didn't help and Anton being a true gent took the blame and the fall in my opinion, for the dancing and many other things The show will have lost a good ballroom dancer and with a passable celeb a fairly good latin. I know he is not as good as some of the others at latin but there again Vincent can't roly poly or cartwheel.
I honestly believe we will never know the truth behind the problems at the beginning of the run, it left Anton a shadow of his former self and I think this series he waas not as chipper as he used to be. He thought about everything before he spoke. So I for one would like him back, as others have said if he goes some of the others would have to go as well and we don't want that do we!!

I see the usual DS anti-Anton bias still prevails! Nice of you to delete my earlier post even though it met with approval from others and clearly caused no offence! Funny how you've never deleted any post about which I've complained, even those which are downright lies, offensive and sometimes libellous. And yet doubtless you'll trot along to the next press call that the BBC arranges with Anton for you and be delighted to see him. I don't how you justify any claims to impartiality. Still, you're such an irrelevance compared to the British voting public who obviously like the guy.

On what basis do you make this claim? Can you provide a scrap of evidence of Anton being inherently racist and therefore not accepting a non-white partner? And did you watch ITT tonight? It seems that everyone is fine with whatever occurred earlier in the series, including Laila.

Oh and Anton's girlfriend of two years (thank to the Times for that info!) is non-white. Any thoughts on this fact?

Calm down please, sometimes it's just not worth losing it with the posters on here. We know how good Anton is, but let's face it he is damned if he does and damned if he doesn't with some people. But as you say on ITT is was clear to see that whatever went on earlier on is now quite behind them and they enjoyed each others company. I also think Anton changed Laila's approach to life and gave her some manners amd she came out of this a much nicer and lesser 'fiesty' person. I was quite surprised how she behaved at times and came across as veing quite firey. but our boy and his charm sorted that out.
It's amazing how many Anton bashers come out of the wood work when a simple question is asked and they all knock the same things. Lots of them sway with the wind. Many of us are Loyal Anton Fans forever!!!

I'm completely lost as to why your posts have been deleted. I read them yesterday afternoon and there was nothing at all offence in them, as far as I can see all you did was ask a question.

Personally I'm fed up with the unfortunate events of the beginning of the series being dragged up everytime someone opens a thread about Anton.

So am I
There are those (relatively a drop in the ocean, thankfully) who no matter what the subject, will throw in a jibe but then it says more about them, frankly - clearly they have personal issues.

I always look forward to seeing Anton. I'm not a dance expert so I'm not bothered whether or not his Latin is up to scratch. He always makes me smile and I agree with a previous poster the "career" comment to Tess was

What you mean like Anton is prepared to throw in a jibe at any Asians he comes across? Must be personal issues.

Unless you have evidence of Anton making racist comments to someone other than Laila, you are putting yourself at risk of libel there. One racist comment, however bad it was, does not mean that someone is "prepared to throw in a jibe at any Asians he comes across".
