For a start Latin is in the legs and hand movements are supplementary - an embellishment. He didn’t even teach Laila to transfer her weight on the basic step. That would have meant that her hip action continued automatically and didn’t come to a grinding halt when ever they tried a not very complex addition such as using their arms.
We could see this from her opening segment. It looked good but since she hadn’t mastered this basic technique (And when I say basic I mean literally taught on the first class) it was obvious it was all going to flounder. However the fact that she can move her hips rhythmically proves that she should, with a decent teacher be able to master Latin – as transferring you weight and dancing into the floor isn’t rocket science.
Women dancers in Latin shouldn’t have to worry about their hands when being held as this is the males job as it is the male's job to add in the patterns. So all the awkward hand movements were Anton’s fault rather than Laila's.
She forgot her steps but he clearly was rubbish at leading a latin dance and hadn't taught her the basics anyway.
As to him coming back. What is the point of a pro who can't be teamed with non-whites and also has to avoid those with a decent chance of winning as he would be seen as a liability because of his refusal to take his job professionally.
On the plus side however his salsa was one of the most hilarious I have seen in a long while.
