Some really great choices. I've already heard a few (I'm already in love with Hurts) and there are some others on that list that I like the sound of.

The winner of this is always a bit hit and miss though. The winner this year was Little Boots but she's made very little impact when you consider others who made the longlist - Lady Gaga and La Roux have had a much better year.

All these lists do is to hype artists up before they are ready for it.

She is mine too right now, so glad she made that list

True. I like Little Boots but when I saw her live in October with some friends at the end it was Ellie we were talking about who just happened to be the support act. She was great live so I'm sure she will do well in 2010.

Just listened to Mowgli's road, it is very good. I hadn't heard of her before.

Actually thinking about it I haven't heard of any of them.

Yet to hear Ellie's material but i keep hearing her name pop up loads. I think Jo whiley played one of her songs once.

I am sure she is one to watch next year

Just so i can get a grip of her music, who could u compare her to?

2010 is looking a gloomy year for new artists if that is anything to go by. Luckily I don't think the BBC are too accurate about predicting the real big new artist so I am hoping there are more undiscovered talent they have ignored.

Well they did put Little Boots at the top of their list, so I don't think we should take this too seriously either.

BBC Sound of 2010: How it works - It's not chosen by the BBC and it's not about choosing who will be the biggest star in 2010. It's just some music industry "experts" choosing new artists they like.

Everyone seems to go on about the popularity of Lady Gaga and Little Boots from last years list but that's not really what the list's about. It didn't take a rocket scientist to work out that Lady Gaga was probably going to become massive but she didn't top the list because the "experts" liked other artists more e.g. Little Boots.

The Drums should have a good year if their album lives up to the EP, Radio1 have already shown interest, it could be the soundtrack to the summer. I'd like Marina and The Diamonds and Delphic to do well, not sure if they will. Giggs will probably do well but I can't see him breaking through mainstream. Elle Goulding is dire so's Daisy Dares you, one of them will probably break through though . I don't get the Owl City hype either. Others not exiting enough to talk about

Unicorn Kid is one name that immediatley springs to mind as missing. He's a 17 year old scotish lad, tearing up live shows with 8-bit hardcore. He's not mainstream but he's very youthful, maybe he's not there yet in terms of material to release though.

Not sure how any of you can judge Daisy Dares You from the rough demos on her MySpace. Her first single features Chipmunk and it's very good.

I remember starting a thread about Ellie a few months ago and it had no replies but seems now that more of you like her. Starry Eyed is her next single and it's good.

Marina is obviously brilliant and I've loved every single I've heard from her.

It's a bit strange how people who've only heard one song by Hurts, Wonderful Life, are so excited about them but it's a very good song, so hopefully they'll be good.
