Hi All.

I have had this problem for a couple of years and thought i would bring it up.

I have a Samsung TV with Samsung Bluray player. The problem is that for the first 5 or 10 minutes after i turn my TV on the remote for my Denon amp wont turn the amp on. after a few minutes the buttons start to slowly work (after half a dozen presses of the buttons it will work once). after 10 mins or so it works fine. does it every time.

Could anyone shed any light on this issue please?

Batteries?

Or - some remotes have difficulty with modern light bulbs. You know, these low energy types. It could be something to do with that. Does it improve if you turn the lights off?

Try covering the TV screen with a piece of card or similar. My theory is it's the TV backlight emitting infra red. When the lights warm up the frequency shifts enough to allow the Denon remote to start working

Of course, if you simply turn the TV off temporarily while you test, it will have the same, or even better, effect.

He already knows it works with the TV off It stops working when he turns on the TV. Being an AV amp I imagine the OP uses it many times without the TV on.

Sounds like it could be IR interference from TV -> Denon remote as mentioned earlier.

Have you tried switching the amp on first or using the on/off button on the amp?

Alternatively - I wonder if an all in one remote would solve the problem.

Where does the AV amp sit in relation to the TV? Just moving it a couple of feet may help (could be stray EMF from the TV's power supply causing the problem).

The amp sits about 4 feet away from the TV to the lower left as you look at the TV.

I can use the remote when the tv is off. when the tv is turned on, it instantly stops working for 5 or 10 mins.

Try plugging the TV into a different power socket from the AV amp. Try an extension from the next room if you can.

Did you try using the on/off button on the front of the amp?
