Fantastic news - as it should be every year. I would go further and have no dance off from quarters, certainly where we have lost a couple already (ie only four at quarter stage).

Very Happy I would have prefered a 3 person final but that was too much to expect and I still think Chris would have been in the final two so really on Saturday its a popularity contest between Ricky and Ali for who will join Chris in the final.

I think it's the fairest situation. It will probably mean Chris will definitely get through, but if he's that popular then perhaps that is right in terms of the show.”

I totally agree on all three points.

A dance-off does seem a bit too much when there are only three left. I trust they're not going to say, like last year, "All of you are through!"

To have the DO cancelled
Well done and congratulations

A victory for the public.

Chris can take the week off.

Well it means the show sticks to the policy it had when nobody had withdrawn (i.e. judges can't automatically decide one of final two and public favourite at this stage can't be eliminated) so I'm happy.

Wish they would have done this two years ago in fact.

I'm confused will a couple be eliminated on Saturday?Claudia said "lets have a look at our finalists"

So the next two shows should be something of a procession then?

As Bruno said, it seems fair when there are only three left.

If there were still four in the affect isn't so pronounced but when there's only three it did shift the power balance too far towards the judges.

Doesn't this just mean that Chris is now the winner
The last two shows seem pretty pointless now.

I am pleased! And I'm not voting for Chris - well, I'm not voting for anyone cos I haven't made up my mind yet.

Er...how do you know that they hadn't decided this weeks ago?

Fairest way - the judges vote then the public vote and then whoever is bottom in the combined scores goes home (with the public vote taking precedence in a tie).

Seems fair to me!

The alternative was a judges and a public vote with the judges getting a second vote which may have overturned the public vote.

What they have done in reality is make it a final over 2 weeks .......in the final the 3 couples are voted down to 2 before the final showdance stage so they are just doing that same stage a week early.

He can sit down with his feet up for the test of the week put in a dismal performance and end up in the final what joy

Much as I would prefer a three-couple final, I think it was just an error on Claudia's part.

That's a good way of looking at it.

I can see how people think this is fair but quite frankly it's not. But quite frankly I don't care. All my favourites are gone from this series anyway and Ali is only my favourite out of the remaining bunch. If I were Ricky or Ali I would just give up because we all know Chris Hollins has won. Prepare for shrieking.

He only goes through if he wins the public vote - the majority rules!

Think "ratings"

Yes Chris has support, but not so much that it influences the ratings.
If Ricky or Ali went out on Saturday, there could be a bit of a reaction, a bit of a viewer "turn off" for the final.
"Even a slight drop in the ratings could have a serious effect on bonuses."

It'll be a three-couple final and by then the BBC won't care who wins.

I've never been a fan of the DO. It's fairest that the couple with the lowest combined score goes home irrespective of who that might be.

I agree it's fair but it doesn't really make for an edge-of-your-seat final does it? Ricky and Ali must be well aware they're only there to make up the numbers. In their shoes I'd come out and do the 'Birdie Song' dance just for the hell of it tbh
