Humax recording problem - help please

Hi all, just found and joined what looks like a terrific forum in order to hopefully get some useful advice. I consider myself reasonably intelligent but my expertise lies a long way from this stuff and I'm stuck as to where the fault might lie, so here's the question....

I've just bought a Humax Foxsat HDR, thought it was dead simple to install and set up as we previously had Sky+ so the dish and leads were ready and waiting. What I can't get it to do is record one channel and allow us to watch or record a second, they are even shown as unobtainable on the guide.
When nothing is recording everything is available, right now the wife is recording Coronation St (I know, she's insane ) and a huge swathe of other stuff cannot now be watched.
I've tried reconnecting all cables but now need some further advice, any help appreciated.

You have only 1 working connection. First call up diagnostics and check what the two tuner signals are reporting (assuming you have v11 firmware or later). Assuming 1 tuner is reporting 0 input check the two cables are on the right inputs (the 2 outer ones ). Check the centre core on the connections is not bent and going into the hole in the f connector.

Hopefully you will find a faulty connection, do a factory reset and watch for the 2 cables found message.

After the reset try tuning to to 108 and start an instant recording, now tune to 951 BBC 1 CI and start a second instant recording. Now tune to any other channel and press pause, if that works you are actually recording 3 channels, two to the recording area of the hdd and one to the time shidt buffer. (Something a sky+ box has no chance of emulating )

If that does not help post again

It might be worth doing a factory reset, just make a note of any recording schedules you may have set-up and note any preferences you have made. Your recordings will remain intact. The box volume will default to 50% so that will need ramping back up

Many thanks guys, the cables are definitely connected correctly and the cores are not bent(already checked this before first post), work pressure means no time to try the reset yet but fingers crossed it will work.

What version of firmware does diagnostics return and what signal strength and quality for each tuner is indicated.

You can check how many connections the box thinks it has by using one of the secret menus

Enter Setup

Press in succession on the remote

RED GREEN YELLOW BLUE GREEN YELLOW BLUE

Check connection type says Two cables same

Hi, sorry to butt in on the thread, but I have the same problem. I know I have two good signals from my dish, and if I connect up my old Freesat box to LNB2 I can then get a record and watch facility - by using two separate boxes. But when I put both LNB lines into the Humax, although I get great signal strength and quality bars from both internal tuners, if I record say BBC1, it knocks out lots of other channels. Have tried everything I know (and the ecret colour sequence indicated above, although it just showed the 'no entry' signal in the corner when I tried it). Am at my wit's end, any ideas...?

To expand, when I record BBC1, I'm unable to view and/or record BC2, ITV, Ch4, Five....

Welcome to the forum smartiepam

Don't worry about the no entry icon popping up just continue entering the colour button sequence and the hidden menu will appear on it's completion..
