The tangos have bored me this series
I wish we could've seen Tangos of this standard this year...

Rachel & Vincent - 39

Alesha Dixon & Matthew Cutler - 38

Kelly & Brendan - 35

We still have Jade and Ian's to look forward to - I hope it lives up to the hype. A few of the pros and celebs said it was very good, and Ian does an amazing tango when he's allowed to (see: Zoe Ball), so I'm hopeful.

My top tango has to be Austin and Erin - best male tango ever in the history of SCD!!!!!!!

Excellent choice's (and I agree,even if I didn't like Rachel's I can appreciate the skill in it)

As personal choices I would also add

Zoe Ball & Ian Waite (best tango ever on SCD imho)
Aled Jones & Lilia (well I loved it even if the judges didn't)
Louisa Lytton & Vincent
Emma Bunton & Darren

(Only tango I've really rated this series has been Ricky Whittles even though it was strewn with mistakes, I do feel Jade would have done a killer tango though and can't wait for the final just for that)

Funny you should say that because I was looking just looking at Rachel's Tango (along with her Jive and AS -first one-). It was fab! I did enjoy Ricky's but, as you say stand out routines have been a bit thin on the ground this year.

Excellent choices.

It seems to have vanished from You Tube now () but I always rather liked Aled and Lilia's.

Oh, and of course Zoe and Ian's!

[Cross posted with allisonbm2: great to see some more Aled and Lilia appreciation. I always thought they were overly harsh on that dance - I thought his musicality was fab-u-lous

James and Camilla's Tango was good very underrated by the judges at the time.

I really loved Tom's.

"Please Mr. Brown. Not so tight, you're spoiling my gown."

Honourable mention to Ian's with Denise Lewis. It's so crazy that we haven't seen Ian tango since series 3. Crazy and lame.

Flamin' hell that Tango of R&V's is just incredibly good.

Zoe's is my next favourite.

Both huge 'wow' moments for me.

I've only had 'wow this is hilarious' moments this year.

I'd also forgotten James and Camilla's! Loved that.

Totally. Especially as the two he's done on the show have been so good...

I loved Aled thought his Paso was good too even if it does break my heart to watch that semi

And that one too, to Goldfinger I think it was. Ian's Tango's are few but brilliant

Ian and Zoe's will always be my favourite - I was gutted that year that they didn't win. I think they're also one of my favourite couples of all time as well.

That Tango of Rachel's is very good from a 'feet going in the right place and posture' point of view, but it's cold. She has no facial expressions, it's like the snow queen dancing, no fire, no passion. Watching the other two make me realise why I really didn't like watching Rachel, she's totally emotionless.

In other dances I'd agree, but from the arrangement of the music I'm guessing it was supposed to be cold, aloof and somewhat robotic (their heels click together and it makes a *ting* for chrissakes). Which is a valid choice for the tango I think - it's not always supposed to be grunting and stomping and ladies fondling the boys sweaty gauchos.

At the time it annoyed me, because I was bored of the boys overacting, and it felt like a bit of a swizz just to pull into Rachel's natural... blankness, but out of the context of the series I think it really works.

Whilst never a fan of Camilla that Tango was fabulous, so different, I think, IIRC only Craig really got it and loved it.

Anyone else think it was a harbringer of Tomilla's showdance in it's inventiveness and sheer orginality. I loved James and Cam's paso. Camelia you are missed.

Re: Ian - it's a great pity we never got to see Penny's - she was a tad over-rated but she really wanted to do the tango and with Ian's hit rate with the tango it probably would have been worth seeing (he seems to have a similar hit rate with the samba too which considering how few decent sambas there are is all the more remarkable). On a similar note although I wasn't a fan of hers generally Lisa's was very good last year although Brendan like Ian seems to be particularly gifted when it comes to putting together routines for it - it's a dance of drama so they're kinda made for him I guess.

The tango was THE dance of series four - Louisa's, Emma's (one of her few dances which really wowed me and I'm afraid I didn't mind Louisa going out against it), pretty well all of the mens that year were good or at least pretty decent - I know he got ticked off for not doing his heel leads in the final but I loved Ramps's and Peter Schmicheal's was as full of character and performance as Ali's was lacking. Even Claire King's wasn't bad (see above comment about Brendan). I don't know if it's still there but there used to be a great amalgamation of clips of tangos, paso and AT from series four on You Tube done to the Roxanne tango from Moulin Rouge.

From what I remember Craig didn't like it all - he gave it a 6, the same as he gave to Will Thorp's rather anonymous effort of the same series. It got 28 overall - 6,7,8,7.

Louisa and Rachel's tangos with Vincent take some beating, And I loved Lilia and Don's tango - great music !

I think the problem with the tangos this year is lack of actual traditional tango music, I think it is much better and rock music dies the dance off IMO

I loved Aled and Lilia's tango as well even the judges weren't keen on it.
