http://www.nme.com/list/50-best-albums-of-2009/159978

admitedly I agree with the first four apart from the xx (a little overrated imo)

I find Animal Collective extremely unlistenable aswell but the "experts" seem to disagree.

Camera Obscura should be a lot higher, Girls should be top 10, and Metric not even making the top 50 must be some sort of oversight

Urgh NME... if the song contains a guitar then they'll love it.

Gigwise have done a much better list methinks. Loads of quality albums the NME missed

Well, it is primarily a rock/Indie based magazine. I'm sure there's plenty of rags that cater for dross like Will Young and Girls Aloud.

I'd definitely have The Maccabees' Wall Of Arms up higher! As for The XX, absolute shite! Saw them supporting Jack Penate a few months back & thought they were shocking, one of the worst live bands I've seen, was desperate for them to finish. I couldn't believe it when people started raving about them!

Little surprised at the top 50 songs of the year too - pretty good call for Zero at No.1 but not sure about some of the other choices. Would've had Biffy Clyro's That Golden Rule much much higher!

I can't even think of 50 good albums that were released this decade.

Why on earth is The Big Pink number 7? I saw them support Muse a couple of months ago and they were awful. Most people were commenting on how each song sounded like the next one.

I liked the song "Too Young To Love" but everything else is just dire "Dominoes" has to be one of the most overrated songs of the year

Agree on the Big Pink; their songs do sound pretty similar. Velvet is a fantastic track though, but not sure the album was worthy of Top 10.

NME just like to be controversial. Or like trying to be.

I only own Two Suns by Bat For Lashes and It's Blitz! by Yeah Yeah Yeahs. Both albums are awesome.

I haven't heard any of the others so I can't comment on this list. The singles one, however, is a crock of shit

A top fifty that has Lilly Allen's newest album in, but doesnt find a place for Shakira's latest one is not a top fifty that should be paid any atention.

Same. Surely The Resistance isn't that bad, it couldn't make a top 50.

NME have gone from arse licking Muse to forgetting they exist lately. Don't think its cool to like them anymore

I would have liked to have seen the Cribs' Ignore the Ignorant get higher place because it is an absolutely amazing album- Im a big fan of them but even I was blown away by the album when I heard it. There is no filler, just 12 great songs- such brilliant but underrated band.

Pete Doherty should have got a nod for Grace/Wasteland- some of the songs on that album are beautiful.

It's the NME. It's not a list of the best albums of the year. It's a list of who it is 'cool' to like. Nothing more.

Yes there are some good albums in there but a lot of omissions too IMHO.

I dislike the NME

I agree. Broken Love Song. 1939 returning. My personal number 2 album.
Bit gutted that I agreed with the NME no1 choice though. How Uncool! The first time I heard Primary Colours it was the freshest (yet so retro) thing I've heard in years.

Quite agree. I saw The Horrors supporting Placebo last night, and they lived up to their name...
