Me too!!! I agree with you - they were pretty bad. From the way they were strutting about backstage they think they are uber cool though. Placebo, on the other hand, were utterly amazing.

That's NME in a nutshell. They go on and on about bands who hardly anyone has heard of, big them up and then when people do start enjoying them and they do more gigs etc NME throw them aside. It's not the mag it once was that's for sure.

God it's like a gig meet up! I have never walked out of a band playing, regardless of if I liked them or not (I stood through the entirety of the Big Pink's set, and I didn't like them) but I genuinely couldn't take any more of the Horrors. They seemed to me (and I'm not basing this on anything in particular, just my own feelings) that they are in the music business for the money - not to entertain people, not to create something, not for just the sake of music.

Placebo on the other hand...one of the best bands I have seen live. They definitely sound better than on albums and give a performance 100%. I am so hungry to see them tour again. Plus, confetti showers lasting what seemed like forever = plus!
Drunk/drugged up man singing right in front of us, pissing off Stef so much that he was shooting daggers at rowdy man = priceless moment that I will never forget!

I can barely name top 3 best albums of the year.

Anyway, my favourite album of the year is Two Suns by Bat For Lashes. Definitely recommended!

Quite surprised at some of the comments about The Horrors on here - saw them for the first time at Leeds fest & thought they were great live.....certainly not a band I'd have walked away from!

This is funny. You're never going to agree with a top 50 list no matter who publishes it.
Music quality is subjective so a definitive list will never be produced, it can only ever be opinion and the people involved in making that list's opinions count just as much as that of any of you bleating about it on here.

This is so obvious; we understand music is subjective. When it's supposed to represent a year in music, and there are some frankly ridiculous entries, then people will comment.

It was the first time I'd seen Placebo and I thought they were really good. It was disappointing how few people were there though.


Everyone has different taste, but they struck me as little different to what the likes of Echo & The Bunnymen were doing 30 years ago. I knew nothing of them before last night, but they struck me as yet another identi-kit "indie-by-numbers" band.

You're not alone, I like Horrors also, saw them live at Reading... Hated their first album but I like Primary Colours alot.

I was actually thinking about you last night. We've "spoken" before on here about Placebo and I know you wanted to meet Brian. Did you manage to see them after the show? Luckily for me I got to go backstage during the Horrors' set so didn't have to listen to them anymore. Given the choice of listen to more of that or hug new Steve I know what I'd chose every time.

To be honest, I didn't even attempt waiting after the show - I've often tried to wait outside gigs to no avail, but there you go. Sad times for me. Though it's probably for the best - I know I would just act like a complete fool if I got to meet any of them, based on past experiences with celebrities, especially those who I respect, admire and think are gorgeous...

You got a hug from new Steve? Pretty damn jealous. My friend would be more so though (I kept hearing her sighing throughout the gig and her eyes were glued to him).
