I reckon Joe will have been middling throughout until a few weeks ago when Simon decided he was the second coming, just like Alexandra did last year- it's a clever trick.

Don't forget Leona also languished behind others (including the McDonald Brothers) for a while and though Shayne topped the vote the first week, he dropped to around third place until the final. Ironically, only Steve and Leon won every week of their year and Eoghan led the voting on most weeks last year. |

I wouldn't bet on that. Joe has been vocally the stand-out from the first live show. He may not have topped the vote until a couple of the ones who were more hyped from their auditions showed they couldn't hack it vocally.

Joe has been on good form every week, I don't think he's been middling at any time, but in the top 3 each time. |

I hope John and Edward were the bottom of the voting (if not then I'll just be upset that we could have had more weeks of them if it had gone to deadlock
) but I'm not so sure they were.

Yes, I agree about Joe. I think he's done well in the voting every week. The swapping around of the other contestants for the bottom 2 places each week shows the likes of Jamie, Jedward, Miss Frank and Rachel were not doing well any one week.

When do they normally release the voting figures for each week for each contestant, and do they also show who was in the bottom two and who was actually the one with the lowest votes.
I ask as on many weeks it ended up being put to the public anyway, so we know exactly who was bottom but not who was top or in the middle. However there is one week that I think an awful lot of people are going to be very interested in, and that is the week Jedward went! as it was not put to the public vote, Dannii was the last judge to vote and she went with Simon and Cheryl and Jedward went home. Now the controversy will be if Jedward did not poll the least votes had it gone to the public they would have remained in the show and OLLY would have gone home as he was the other one in the bottom. Who thinks Olly polled the least and who thinks Jedward polled the least. If Olly got the least public votes had it gone to deadlock Jedward would have stayed, how would that have changed the show do any of you care to comment as it has really played on my mind since that night. Did Dannii suspect that Olly was going to be walking off into the sunset, which is why she played on the "is this a singing competition" or was she just worried he may have got the least and she would be saving Jedward who she claimed could not sing? 2million voted in semi, then on final night drmot gave the total number of votes for the final as 8 million. it was only on xtra factor that it was revealed that Eoghan had topped poll for six out of ten weeks.

QM - do you think they should ban multivoting? i.e. 1 vote per person?
1% difference from 2million votes is 20,000 votes and of course it might have been 18.1% and 17.9%.... Its a real travesty Danyl didnt get through in my opinion, the sustained hate campaign against him was awful...his near 3rd, indeed near 2nd place, is a true victory in that context. He'll be the longterm winner anyway... |

He has been on form every week but that is not necessarily reflected in the voting in the first half of the live shows (ie Eoghan last year) and he definitely had a "moment" when people started to take notice of him. I think these factors combined are why people say he wasn't topping the votes earlier, not because they don't think he was any good earlier
![]() I think he was top that week. |

If Joe did have a moment, I would say it was when he sang Don't Stop Believin'.
I think he was top that week. i think until 'don't stop believin' he had been middle of the pack. post that i reckon he would gradually started gain more popularity |

although i agree it was a moment where some of the voting public cottoned onto him as a potentially great performer i don't think Joe topped the voting until a couple of weeks ago when he sang 'dont let the sun go down on me'

Olly WAS bottom, of course he was.
If he hadn't of been bottom, they would of deadlocked it. It's like the week Lucie went, they purposely deadlocked it as she was bottom and the twins would survive. If they wanted her to stay, it would have been a 3-1 vote just like it was with Olly. I hate the bottom two because it gives the show a chance to manipulate who stays in. Olly was bottom in the final 6 - now look, he's in the final 3 and could possibly win the show. Get rid of the bottom two, I say. If you're bottom - you're gone! Bye... no second chances. Will never happen though because just like Strictly Come Dancing, Dancing On Ice, Big Brother etcetc. the show wants at least SOME say in who goes each week. |

I wish the bottom two thing was done properly as if it was it would be an important safegard to protect the show from the vagaries of the voting system.

Is anyone else really interested to see the voting stats this year? I hope we get them Sunday night.
Week 7 will be very interesting. |
