Popularity should be judged as well as dancing

How many people here would pay good money to go to a concert if the singer was great, but had no personality? Its the same with Strictly. Talent and personality are both important and, while technically Chris is not the best dancer, he is the most likeable!

Lots. Lots of people enjoy music for its own sake. Just like some people like dancing as an art, and painting and acting... Not everyone is shallow and a worshiper of the cult of celebrity.

Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston, that dreary French Canadian woman all sell out worldwide but aren't known for their sparkling personalities. It doesn't matter - COS THEY CAN SING.

Few people gives a toss when they go to see Carlos Acosta what he is like as a person either. And people were not put of seeing Michael Jackson by the trials and the rumours - because we was a world class talent. Ditto Darcey Bussel, Tom Cruise...

Personality can make a career but talent can too and sometimes a person has both.

It all boils down to how much you value personality. I would much prefer a great singer with a less than engaging personality then someone who hit bad notes all the time but smiled while they were doing it

Of course the ideal situation is a balance of personality and ability, they are the true greats.

If the laughing gnome wins it on popularity then they should enter Nelson Mandela next year. he would win it without having to leave SA or do a dance.

I don't think he'd appeal to the demographics of SCD.

I am not sure he would let Ola tweak his nipples

He would loose some votes there

On the other hand he does do the wriggly dance and doesn’t mind flashy outfits.

What with his age he might find the bent leg stalking stance a bit difficult. But if he keels over he might garner the sympathy vote.

Your right. It might work.

They should get onto making the Tean Nola t shirts right away. And he may have to spend the next year practsing being less dignified and learning to say 'Ola chops' though.
