RATM have opened up a clear lead on itunes now. About 30% over Joe up from about 5% behind last night.

They were just on sky news talking about it

Just out of interest, where are you getting these figures from?

Itunes sales bars. Just go to itunes and click on 'top singles'.

Good link, I like how you made it fair and balanced by showing 3 other online stores with Rage at NO1

Sky have the wrong chart at the end, the itunes store is way behind. they need to look at the itunes applet itself.

It's hard to tell who's side Sky News may be on, the guest definatly seemed to change his mind on the issue of how important physical sales would be.

In this country the media love to build up then knock down, perhaps with this greater media exposure the media as a whole is salivating the Xmas day carcass picking!

On the other hand if Sky were defo behind the idea they would have show Rage on the top of a chart.

Perhaps they are hedging their bets, I bet secretly they want X Factor beaten

Can't believe this hypocracy of this campaign, it's really ironic all these people complaining about the "crap" Cowell serves up every year but are quite happy to accept this propaganda and buy this rubbish. I would maybe have been a part of this but not at the expense of something much worse than what Cowell has served up in the last five years.

Why couldn't they done a campaign for a more christmas style song it's put me right of the band which didn't used to be mainstream or use campaigns to sell records like we were sheep!
I would have bought this song at any other time of the year, but not Christmas. I might just buy the X Factor song so I don't hear this played on the radio over Christmas

What a waste of your money. Why don't you just not buy either of them and save your cash up?

Surely that makes sense?

I've got little children and foreign family round the house for Christmas who I don't want hearing this on the radio over Christmas (The Impression it would make on them). It's not about the money really: £1 isn't a lot for a one-off.

Unless you're tuned in to the top 40 on Sunday, you're fairly unlikely to hear the Rage song any other time over Christmas.

Anyone else having trouble loading Facebook, and think it might have something to do with all this press coverage of RATM campaign??

My view on the whole thing is while x factor being beaten to the top spot would be a fun thing and show simon cowell up why does it have to be such a bloody horrendous song! I'm sorry but i dont want to spend my christmas with a song titled "Killing in the Name" playing on top of the pops!

If this was summer and x factor was a summer show then yes this would be quite funny but this is christmas, its the christmas number one and i dont feel that the song is apporopriate at all for this time of year and i really hope that they dont get the number one because its just stupid.

While Joe's song may not be the most festive surely its a better message to be sending that whatever Rage against the machine (Come wtf is that name all about!) are tryong to send.

Nice idea inappropriate song choice.

Its nothing to do with the song they picked its all down to the message.

The song was picked to get Maximum media attention - every single year record artists are booted from the number 1 spot because of the Xfactor Circus.

The planning behind this is to take back the number 1 spot, and stop xfactor taking it every single year, they did he same last year and the Song went to number 2...

this year they needed the edge, and The Rage has given them just that....

Xfactor has made the xmas charts there own and over 800,000 people have said enough is enough and have taken back the power, this year could be the biggest test in the pop industry since the 60's.

Not only that £33,825.50 has been raised for charity http://www.justgiving.com/ratm4xmas

This is a Internet Revolution !

The Climb is hardly Christmasy itself....... George Michael's song is more appropriate... But good on them for raising over £30,000 for shelter..... Now THAT IS TRUE CHRISTMAS SPIRIT.

?

Just put a CD on... or... Don't listen to radio 1 or capital fm on that day.

I can't think of anything worse than listening to mainstream radio over Christmas.... Yiiiikes.

Listen to Magic and enjoy all the old xmas classics.

And I must be a mean bitch... But a £1 is quite a lot to spend on something you feel indifferent too.
