If this was summer and x factor was a summer show then yes this would be quite funny but this is christmas, its the christmas number one and i dont feel that the song is apporopriate at all for this time of year and i really hope that they dont get the number one because its just stupid.

While Joe's song may not be the most festive surely its a better message to be sending that whatever Rage against the machine (Come wtf is that name all about!) are tryong to send.

Nice idea inappropriate song choice.”

Oh bloody hell..... Are you by any chance writing Louis Walsh's rule book?

This forum is getting far too conservative and puritanical for my liking.

P.s. No offense, I don't know you, but you are coming across as a bit of a Daily Mail type person here.

Well, 'The Climb' is hardly traditional Christmas fare (although traditional over the last three years seems to be recycled X-Factor crap, so hey...)

I thought at least last year's winners song was kind of festive... Well it had biblical references in it at least... And it was a classic... the original song that is.

But this year's one is just pap.

Count me in, just heard about this campaign and thought, Why Not, I've got a quid to spare, I'd rather see RATM at number 1 than another X-Factor singer.

Having seen the news tonight, you may want to take that guarantee back.

29p, and it does count Amazon pay the extra 20p, confirmed by OCC and Amazon.

Have YOU seen the live charts for MP3 downloads?

Rage are currently number one, with Katy Perry at Number 2. Joe has been knocked to number 3!!

Good news! I actually like the 3Oh!3 song, so I' glad it's beating Joe.

Fingers crossed it'll remain like this.

I just wrote a lengthy post which disppeared when I submitted it

:

So. instead of doing it all over again, I'll just remind people that RATM aren't some fly by night nobodies, but a Grammy winning, triple platinum selling band who have toured all over the world in the past 18 years or so.

And they did it without all the hype and publicity that Cowell's Income Generators attract, without being promoted on a 2 hourly play cycle on commercial radio and without having a hour long Saturday night advert for 3 or 4 months in the lead up to them releasing a record.

Leon Whotsisname anyone?

Although, to be fair, they ARE signed to Sonys record label, and thus have somewhat of a hypocritical tone to their songs.

Still, its the MESSAGE we are buying.

I can't believe that bloody awful 3OH!3 song has risen in the charts, it's got one of the most irritating noises in a song released this year (the whistle thing it does). Awful, awful song. I'd rather Joe be number 2 than that piece of shite. On the positive side, go Rage!

I think it'll be a different story tomorrow when Joe's physical release hits though

Any update on the actual sales numbers since this morning?

That's what I meant - he was saying that no way would RATM would get to number one.

I hope it stays as it is until after New Year!

I would have thought Jona Lewie's Stop the Cavalry would be more suitable for Xmas number one, but really ANYTHING instead of the X Factor.

bookies are cutting RATM odds to reach Xmas number1. Can't remember where I read it but Will Hill had RATM @ 6/1 + now has them at 10/3

With the exeception of Leona Lewis , A Burke, the X Factor is a glorrified Karaoke show the only winner is Simon Cowell the majority of X Factor audience is teenagers i am fedup with the constant drivel in newspapers and radio shows about it.

I will celebrate when the time comes and ITV scraps this show not everybody wants to watch teenagers murdering songs on their tv screens on a Saturday night if you want to support real music go down your local pub etc and watch your local band playing playing instruments etc not singing into a karaoke machine backing tracks etc like the singers( so called) on X Factor

call me old fashioned if you want to, but having looked up the lyrics for RATM I am very tempted to buy the X Factor single and I don't even watch the show

It's just a song. Calm down.

Why would you buy a single you have never heard? That's a bit daft

RATM: I heard it once and thought, hmm why not? I have a quid to spare!

JOE: Fair play to Joe, he can sing and he is a likeable guy (although I still think the original Miley Cyrus version is better than his). X Factor is great telly but the fact Cowell is making so much money out of talentless twins John & Edward is incredible.

X Factor with its mega-processed songs and pre-recorded backing tracks is essentially TV karaoke and with exception of McCartney, I can't think of anyone who plays live on there - even Bon Jovi mimed. Playing live is a talent and X Factor does not support his in any way - even though I think Joe is a great singer.

Me buying RATM is nothing against Joe, he is a great singer but my purchase is solely a protest vote at the ever domination of Simon Cowell in the music world and reminder that some people want a change and not always what he tells us we should have - I agree with previous post, we are buying the message (even though there could have been a different song instead of this one). I bought this solely as a message to Cowell that there are others out there that need a listen and deserve a chance.

Why would you buy a song to spite someone else?

It's just that personally I find the words very offensive, and I wouldn't normally buy a single that I've never heard but it seems it's that the X Factor single is probably the only one that realistically stands a chance of stopping RATM getting the number 1 spot. Unless there are any other candidates out there?

Sorry for disjointed post would like to add that I am also fed up of SC's dominance of Christmas music, but why choose RATM as the alternative, prob going from one extreme to the other?

It would win on downloads, howevr the single is in the shops today and all the old ladies will buy it. Joe will win hands down.

Personally I'd love it if Rage got number 1, I remember we used to get fun novelty songs get to Xmas Number 1, such as Mr Blobby, Bob the Builder, etc.

Now we just get this bland mundane crap.

This Rage song isn't my favorite but it was obviously chosen for the words, the problem is now the physical CD is released all the 8 year old girls / 80 year old women will go out and buy it.

I just can't see Rage maintaining a lead, but for 29p it's worth the investment.
