After the disatrous Tango that amazingly received 35 out of 40 she said that she'd like to be in the dance off so they could do it again. I acknowledge she was probably joking but, does anyone find that funny? Its things like that
Lilia said the same about her samba with Matt Dawson when the Dance Off was first introduced (because she'd enjoyed the dance so much)

I have to admit to really liking Australian men. Don't seem to find the women so attractive though.

You couldnt be more wrong, she jumps in deserved delightedness, hugs Ricky, then immediately goes to commiserate Laila and Anton...giving a very warm hug to Laila. She also states in the post-DO interview they would be missed.

What do you want her to do, fall to her knees in front of Anton and scream to the judges 'save them, we are not worthy'?

I can understand some people dont like her personality or whatever but reasons like that are really unfair. All the pros who get saved in the DO celebrate in their own way and deservedly so.
Excellent post. You are so right people see what they want to see and for the most from week one Natalie could do no right.
I and quite a few people I know think she is lovely and she always goes and cuddles the couple who leave. She seems to have a laugh with the pros and celebs and I find I like her quite way of teaching instead of the screeching we have had to have off Karen, Ola and Lilia last year and Ola still does shout at Chris!!

I hate Nicole Kidman and Mel Gibson, but they're practically American so it's OK to dislike them
Both are American-born citizens. Nicole Kidman born in Hawaii and Mel Gibson born in New York.

I've heard she's a very nice person, and she's reasonably well liked amongst the professionals.

Still can't warm to her. I don't know what it is, she just leaves me cold. It could be because she's uber competitive, and takes it all so seriously.

The british like the underdogs, not the one's who brag about ten's from week 1. Remember how she said she wanted Ricky to be the first celeb to get a ten in week one?!

God forbid she get's a Craig Kelly type NEXT year, if she's asked back.

Let's not forget Simon Baker, the ultimate gorgeous Aussie!

As for Natalie, I just feel she is a bit lacking in humour, in her personality and routines. I like Ricky, but he seems more relaxed when you see him on other shows. I don't think his personality is coming across on Strictly.

The only Aussies I "know" are cricketers and rugby chaps.

Ricky Ponting, Chris Latham, the Waugh brothers, the blessed Benaud....

I don't think we like the Aussies as much as we respect some of their traits.

Surely people don't watch the soaps because they like the characters? I thought it was so we could just feel ever so slightly superior that we're lucky enough to be British!

And I'm very smug because I'm not a Lahndoner or a Manc. How fortunate am I??? ;o)

Me too.

An Aussie hunk is definitely top of my to-do list in 2010

We love Neighbours, Home & Away
Mel Gibson, Nicole KIdman, Dame Edna, Rolf Harris
Craig Revel-Horwood

So is Natalie Lowe the exception?!!
I hate Neighbours and Home & Away, but I think Natalie Lowe is superb. She may not be the most glamorous woman, but she has a very pleasant face, and great figure. She is also a superb dancer, great teacher (she did well with both previous contestants) and is pleasantly modest. I honestly don't know what there is not to like.

Who could forget Simon - he's completely adorable and a terrific actor. I'm desperate for a Simon appreciation society in the UK, because I feel the fabulous baker boy is just not appreciated enough here. (Need a drooling smiley)

Is Brendan from NZ as well as Erin?
From the OP I'd only accept 3 and 2 of them are American
I'd add my niece and nephew though and I was quite partial to the original and best, Skippy

Who is Simon Baker?

You beat me to it lol

Surely you cannot be serious; as he stars in what must be the most top rated show on Channel 5 at the moment. Also, probably the second best detective show ever ‘The Mentalist’.

I'll always remember Simon Baker (nee Denny) as the shirtless backup singer in this little gem

The other things you mention are the exceptions to the rules that the Aussies are the old enemy! (Actually I'm not so keen on Mel Gibson of late, either!!)

She epitomises all that is unpleasant in the Aussies as a sporting (and rather unsporting) nation! Smug, pushy, arrogant!

Also, as I posted last week, we just managed to seize the Ashes back from the Aussies, we don't want one of them getting their mitts on our glitterball trophy!

Who is Simon Baker?

I have absolutely no idea.

I imagine, therefore, he'll be a contestant in next year's SCD.

Simon Baker - The Guardian, The Mentalist, to name but a few. Speaks with an American accent when appearing on these shows but his normal speaking voice is Australian. He is utterly gorgeous!

Oh yes, add him to the list and take Mel Gibson off!

E street. I think they both came from that soap? She also turned up quite tanorexic on that awful paradise beach/pacific drive soap.
