The Foxsat HDR, with its two tuners, requires two LNB inputs, if you are to be able to watch one channel while recording another, or record two programmes on two different channels, simultaneously.

I know you can loop LNA 1 Input (Output) to LNA 2 input, but that only solves it if the two channels are on the same mode (L/V, L/H, H/V, H/H).

My question is: which is the best LNB for supplying the two signals to the Foxsat?

I thought the answer was easy, just get a twin-output LNB (two independent outputs) and run the two cables, but in several other forums I have read that this is not ideal, as the twin-LNBs were not designed for oval dishes, and lose signal rapidly in bad weather. They seem to recommend using a quad-output LNB (four independent outputs, not four fixed outputs) and use just two of the outputs.

What is YOUR advice?

If you have a sky minidish you will find it easier to find left handed teacups than a twin lnb. in any case quads are made in such massive quantities the price difference if any is minute whatever dish you have. Get a quad it's a no brainer

Twin output lnbs designed for Sky shaped minidishes have not been made by any manufacturer for many years. Any unused ones still around would be a lot lower spec than current generations of lnb. The best at present are quad lnbs designed for the Sky minidish. Use of "standard" lnbs with adaptors wii either give you an lnb that picks up spurious signals from outside the dish area OR only cover a circular portion at the centre of the dish. The problem is down to he shape of the "waveguides" in the throat of the lnb which "focus" the microwave signals according to the shape of the expected dish. Although both types of lnb will work on both types of dish for optimum performance use the correct spec for the dish.

Sorry, should have mentioned: I am in Germany (just south of Frankfurt), receiving Astra 2D with an 85cm antenna, not a minidish.

As explained in practice you will find that you have to buy a universal quad LNB. Personally I like my MTI AK54-XT2BL best, there is also the Technomate TM-4. Just do NOT buy a quattro
