Ah how can you possibly forget St Winifreds School Choir, Clive Dunn, Renee And Renato, The Flying Pickets, Benny Hill, Wings, Rolf Harris and of course the Peter Pan of pop, Cliff Richard.

when you look at that pedigree then an X factor single sits in the cesspit of Christmas singles that get to number one very happily.

How nice not to have X Factor acts in the top 10 singles chart this week. What a relief...and Lady GaGa is Number 1. Fab-u-lous.

because you're too busy watching rubbish like the X factor.
Get out and get yourself a musical education.
There is so much amazing music out there and it is such a pity that so many people see no further than Cowell's latest offering.

Come on the rage!

I agree with you totally. It is appalling and worrying that the not so bright viewers think music started and ended with Cowell. The sooner the X F bubble bursts the better. So pleased it is now off our screens. The newspapers, the internet, the radio and other telly shows can now talk about something else.

I want a Christmas song to be No 1

Even Mistletoe and Wine would be better than the last few years

I know, me to. We need to get a campaign together to have a Christmas song at the top of the charts rather than this years dull XF ballad.

Let's all buy George's single then. Let's put Christmas back at the top of the charts.

There's a great quote on the Guardian's Talkboards which just about sums this up for me......It's all a bit "My student disco music is better than your mum's third gin and a bit of ironing music".
