I would be tempted to vote for that as it was the one dance that I really enjoyed of theirs. But their fans seem to want romance. Great but I don't think it'll have the wow-factor or knock Chris off his perch.”

I agree. If they stick to form, it will be some floaty, romantic routine. No doubt perfectly executed..but dull.
If Brian wants to make up ground with the viewers, it has to be something memorable.
Having said that, Ola could be thinking the same thing. Last year Camilla nailed it for Tom with a great routine, full of humour, that had the audience on their feet applauding for about a minute. That was danced to "If They Could See Me Now"..a number that could be easily adapted to include Charleston elements. I wonder if Ola will try something along the same lines ?

We know from the semi final that Tom was the popular contestant with the public. I doubt Rachel did anything in the early part of the final to change that.

We also know that Darren must have been ahead of Colin at the point when Zoe was eliminated otherwise she wouldn't have gone out at that stage. He was definitely ahead before the showdance.

Given that Chris simply isn't as good technically as Ali or Ricky, if he IS in the final and they perform a showstopper it could definitely swing things in their favour.”

Tom and Darren were both a long way ahead of Rachel and Colin respectively in their series, including beating them in the first part of their finals. It has since been revealed in Darren Gough's autobiography that he was a long way ahead in the voting, so the showdance definitely did not make a difference there, and I'd be shocked if the same wasn't true for Tom.

Sadly, I think that you are right about this.
