Len's latest puzzling advice to Ali
black_vine

I have to admit that this has been bothering me since Saturday night. After Ali & Brian had finished their Samba, they approached Bruce and the judges as usually...Craig talked, Darcy talked and then it came to Len. Len gave his thoughts about the dance but ended with a perplexing phrase. I'm afraid to type it out and I really don't know how it should be spelt...
Hear the phrase at 6:23

I'd never heard it said before, it's been lingering on my mind. What is Ali to make of this? Is it meant to advice for her next Latin dance and can anyone have a go spelling it...

Thanks guys! You learn something new everyday.

However was it being used in the right context? Urban Dictionary defines 'gertcha':

Quote:
“1. gertcha

Get out of it.

UK Cockney slang
'Can I borrow twenty quid ?'
'Gertcha! you f***er !'

- normally said whilst raising the back of the hand, as if to strike.
”

Len said it with a slight air-punch á la Tim Henman??

So what did Len's advice mean?

I'm none the wiser after reading this thread and following the links.

In this context it means go on - go for it - you can do it. Presumably in terms of giving the performance some ooomph

It's untranslateable.

Weirdly, I understand what he meant.

But then I was born in Tottenham...
