I'm going to buy an iPod for a close Indian friend for his birthday and I want to load some music on it for him because he isn't great with that sort of thing... he likes Western pop music and Jamaican ragga dancehall stuff, but naturally he also likes a bit of Hindi pop music too.

I know NOTHING about it. A R Rahman is as far as it goes basically. I'd be really interested to find some good contemporary Indian chart music but it's so difficult to find because the Indian music scene is so centred on cheesy Bollywood music. I want to find some more credible stuff.

So if anyone can recommend some artists for me to check out, I'd be grateful!
