I think the dance off made a lot of people take notice of Jade and I think she was gaining momentum before she went.
I also think she might have attracted a sizeable chunk of support from those who want to vote for dance talent primarily but need a bit of wow to really kick start them. Neither Ali or Ricky have really been able to grab that audience by the scruff of the neck, with the result that I think Chris has inherited votes he would never have had in other series due to the serious dance alternatives being less than scintillating.
I don't say she would have been able to overturn the Cola wagon but I think she'd have stood a better chance than either Ali or Ricky, particularly if she'd nailed the tango.”

I agree, she was the standout contestant in terms of 'the journey' (well to my mind anyway) and I think because of this her popularity would have increased as the series progressed.
I think Chris maintaining his popularity has had a lot to do with the lack of journeys amongst the contestants. There have been no real stand out improvements amongst the remaining contestants each of them (including Chris) aren't noticeably that much better than when they started.
And by that I suppose I mean they haven't improved their performance (as opposed to technically being better).
Sorry for rambling, it's late, I hope someone gets what I mean
