Quote:
“LAILA Rouass and Anton Du Beke have been ordered back to Strictly rehearsals as BBC bosses fear Ali Bastian may not be fit for the semi-final.

The Bill actress sprained her foot two weeks ago and has so far managed to dance through the pain.

But the injury is refusing to heal and Ali - partnered by Brian Fortuna - had to dip her foot in an ice bucket for an hour after Saturday's live show.

Now bosses fear Laila, who was voted off last week, might be forced to step back in this weekend if Ali does any further damage and has to quit.”

Quote:
“"If she pulls out there will not be enough for the semi-final so Laila is still training."

The BBC's Rick Behari said: "We have a number of contingencies in place in case anything happens to any of the remaining couples."”

Ordinarily I wouldn't think anything of this story, but the BBC spokesperson didn't deny they were back in training and if Ali and Brian did go out what do you do with a meaningless semi-final?

Brian said on his Twitter that they (Ali and himself) are definitely dancing on Saturday

I'm not convinced - why didn't they put someone back in for Jade in that case?
Having said that, Natalie did say half jokingly that she and Vincent were in denial and rehearsing their Waltz on the Monday after they were eliminated so I guess anything goes this year
I reckon they should make the last 12 weeks the practice run and start the series afresh in January

I can't vouch for their credibility but it's also reported:

and here
also here

Basically the same wording though.

It might explain why Ali and Brian have spent so little time rehearsing compared to the other two though, which I did think was odd.

I actually can't imagine Anton doing an Argentine Tango though. I don't think that it would be his dance.

I hope this is wrong though, as I would hate the Scum to get it right.

If this story was true, I would be absolutely amazed. Talk about tabloid histrionics ‘ordered’ ‘forced’, surely nobody could believe such blatant baloney.

They probably do have a reserve on standby. Ricky might have another issue, any of them could do themselves an injury, swine flu is about......

Don't let that sweet little frieghtened deer eyes fool you, Ali is a killer. She woud rather die that than pull out now. Bad ankle and all. Lialer and Anton are waisting their time. Ali is a fighter, and Brian would never quit.

The little Pillsbury Dough Boy any and Pork Chops are ready to fold.

Its just a ploy to get people to stop voting for Ali to make sure Chris win, its a conspiracy!!!!

LOL :P

They SHOULD have a couple on standby at this point. Any one of the couples could suddenly break their leg or have an accident, injury, or unrelated crippling problem.

Of course they should have a spare couple with a two person final coming up - even if no clear injury going on. Makes sense.

As I said on another thread, isn't this the same paper that reported that Ali had swine flu? She seems to have got through that miraculously well...

Swine flu can disappear with very few symptoms. There are people proven to have had it without even noticing.

Don't buy into the media crap that it's some kind of horrifying, deadly disease.

To have a couple on standby makes sense as so many celebs have been injured this year. I am sure on Dancing on Ice they have a celeb as backup in case something happens and I believe once year she actually came onto the show due to injury. I cannot remember her name but she was on Corrie.

It would make a lot more sense if they had Jade and Ian on standby as they're the only couple who weren't voted out but had to retire from injury. Assuming her knee is healed now, she would be a much better bet than Laila and Anton.

If only it were true - I always thought Jade would definitely make the final, if not win it outright.

Yes, I wondered that. Is she working at the same time as doing SCD? Because we know Chris and Ricky are and they've trained 7 and 5 hrs more than her respectively. I wonder if they're a little nervous about aggravating her injury.

It would certainly have made sense to have the last couple eliminated still training - they absolutely cannot afford to lose another couple now. Whoever leaves this week will probably keep training too just in case.

I don't buy into the media crap full stop. I especially don't buy an unsubstantiated report quoting unnamed sources in Britain's biggest selling pile of sensationalist pulp, written for an audience that it appears to assume are borderline illiterate.

You seem to be suggesting that their story might have been true. I'm saying both that one and this one are complete bullshit. To treat them with any kind of seriousness is affording that rag far more latitude than it has ever deserved.

If Ali dipped her foot in a bucket ofice water for an hour , as reported in that article she is highly unlikely to have a functioning foot left at all .
What name??

Maybe she had Ugg boots on at the time.

Ricky, Ali and Chris were all just on Breakfast TV and nothing was said about Ali's injury at all.

So they are on standby and training...well according to a 'BBC spokesperson'!

Aww does this mean there is a Laila and Anton Argentine Tango out there that the world will never see. Dunno if I could be bothered training for something that in all probability would never happen!

The ds version of this story is factually incorrectin that ali has danced four dances since her injry not two and it was in effect almost three weeks ago now and not two.

Bogus.

I hope Ali dances if she has to hop on one leg. She's earned the right to get this far, and I'd sooner see two couples and the votes carried over to next week than be "treated" to A&L again. Their time has been and has, quite rightly ended. They're yesterday's news now.

I would imagine that ALL the ousted couples are indeed back in training for their little turn on the final, no?!

I think so. Katya said something to that effect on ITT during the week. I think she said she was looking forward to getting back into the training room with Phil.
