“OP have you thought that she might be shy- she is very softly spoken also and may not feel as comfortable in interviews as some of the others”

I think that this might be part of the problem, dont know about shy but quiet maybe and Ricky is much the same so its a bit of a quiet partnership, a bit introverted maybe.

I think this makes the point that it does matter who you are partnered with, she was great with Kenny the year before but I think she didnt like Andrew Castle (cant blame her really ) and found his lack of comittment annoying and unfortunately it showed. As you say she has blossomed with Chris and if you reverse the roles you could see how partnership is so important. If Chris was the pro and Ola the celeb who was a bit humourless and they gelled like they have it DOES make a huge difference. You cant see the celeb and pro in isolation from each other it really really is important.

Poor lass - perhaps she joined SCD under the impression that her remit entailed teaching a celebrity contestant to dance well enough with her as a couple to progress through a lightweight Saturday evening television show!

I blame the BBC - the powers-that-be should review the job description they gave her immediately and add such criteria as -

*Will prove herself able to crack jokes/grin maniacally while celeb tells jokes (no matter how unfunny)

*Will demonstrate sparkling personality by stumbling and falling about a lot in rehearsals, making certain that the celebrity is clutched close while they both scream with youthful laughter at their ineptitude.

*Will join in - properly - with rumours of the showmance for which the BBC writers are industriously inventing daily juicy titbits to 'leak' to 'The Scum' and other red-tops.

*Will cry (real tears) to order, and look sincere while doing it.

*Will demonstrate no ambition whatsoever, at any time in the competition, to win at all costs (exception: Karen Hardy)

*Will, in conjunction with her celebrity, create a team name and make up 'funny' catchphrases which will be used relentlessly until the viewing public 'get them'.

Unless they're a bit of a cartoon with a "persona", an awful lot of the pros come across as having no personality in their first year. Erin, Darren, Ian, Matthew, Flavia, Camilla, Ola, Brian all came across as kind of droidish first go round for me. Some of them did for a few series. Some of them still do.

And why would I want to 'show you...'?

Did she? I felt like she completely overpowered him off the dancefloor. For weeks, he had nothing to say and she did all the talking. Then he opened up a bit, but that made her talk even louder, sob even harder, and keep the attention on herself. At times I felt she came across as wanting the win for herself more than Mark, albeit he was an instrument in this pursuit. That's my perception.

About as dire as having 16 couples who are loud, obnxious and in your face. Variety is what keeps it interesting, for every loud person that exists, there has to be a quiet person to tone it down and balance it and actually listen.

Also, it's more about the partnership than whether Natalie is cracking jokes or not. She and Ricky work well together, theres is a private chemistry which seemingly isn't translating to most of the public which is a shame. Flavia was still a shy, reserved person the year she was with Brat, but they were still very successful because their partnership worked.

Who knows? I asked you a genuine question and you responded with a pleasantly mature 'nope' instead of explaining honestly why you felt the need to create a Natalie Bashing Thread which has been repeated multiple times over the course of the series on this forum.

Errrm I actually said in my OP that they're good dancers(positive) however she(and they) come across as dull and bland(negative) so infact a balanced viewpoint.
So your problem is?

I was hoping for more expansion as to why you felt the need when this issue has already been addressed...numerous times.

So anyone interpreting this as a thread designed to slag Natalie off is mistaken?

Sounds about right

Think the BBC should start giving out different awards:-

Best Entertainer.
Best Ballroom dancer
Best Latin dancer
Best All round dancer
Most Improved dancer

That should just about cover all angles.

So 'they're a very good couple dance wise, but bland and dull' is slagging off???

Yes thats the problem I think. Somehow I find they are failing to engage the public and seem to be doing it for 'themselves' I know this isnt actually what they want to do its not a desicion they have made and I know that they are putting on 'great' routines but for a significant number of the people watching its a private journey that they are not involved in. We will never know because on one hand they might win and then this will all be forgotten or he will be the great dancer who didnt win and theories about why will abound but we will never actually know really.

I've said this before in a different thread, but do not understand why everyone dislikes Natalie.

She is a professional dancer with a will to win. All of the other pros are just as competitive but in a different way. Anton uses his humour and Brendan has his tantrums.

I for one think that Natalie is doing a great job with Ricky and they compliment each other.

Yes, they're both a bit* bland and dull

*only a bit though, don't want to be accused of 'slagging off'

Too late now. You should have thought about that before you started the thread.

I'm starting to feel really sorry for Natalie
I know she doesn't help herself half the time and that frustrates me but we don't really know what she's like as her and Ricky haven't apperared on ITT much. There's also lots of little videos on the BBC website and sometimes the pro's are in them and you get to see their personalities shine. Natalie I don't think has apperared once. I don't know if in the VT's the BBC are editing her in a certain way but I don't think it's helping at all. Ola has been able to shine this year and I don't think it would have happened if she didn't have Chris as a partner, maybe Natalie will have a partner next year and shine in the same way. Erin in the first couple of series always came across as the icy one with the hard exterior and willingness to win. She's completely different now and this year has been a joy for me, it's great to see her so happy and her personality bounce off the screen.
Kristina seems to have done the opposite from Erin and Ola.
I hope if Natalie is back next year she is able to shine with her partner as I think it's been difficult this year due to Ricky's work commitments.

No, but the forum is busy enough without clogging it up with repetative threads.

No 'accusations'. Mere fact, it IS what you are doing, you might as well grow some cojones and admit it, it wont hurt you.

Ive seen a few clips. She seems quiet and reserved but a nice girl and supports her celebs when they get harsh comments from the judges. Just as she seems on SCD.
