Connecting to a Sony HTSS100 Sound System
I have just bought a Sony HTSS100 sound system, and I am having a problem connecting the Humax Foxsat HDR.
Should I be able to get Audio and Video via a HDMI cable. At the moment I can only get audio via the HDMI cable when I plug the HDMI cable from the Humax to the Sony system. To get Video I have to connect the HDMI cable from the Humax directly into the TV and connect to the Sony via an optical lead. I have connected the DVD Player with a HDMI lead and that plays video and audio, I thought that the Humax would work the same. What am I doing wrong, please? |

You should have the HDMI from Both into the sony then the HDMI out to the TV .Then a digital audio out from the TV to the sony so you can listen to the TV. have you swapped your HDMi's around to see if its the lead. Hope that helps. If not then check your settings on the amp and the humax

The Sound System has 3 HDMI In, and 1 HDMI Out to the TV supporting Audio & Video. Presumably, you have the Foxsat HDR HDMI into the "Sat" HDMI In, and have chosen that on the remote when you want to watch/listen to the HDR, and you have selected the correct HDMI input on your TV remote? I just had a look at the Manual on the Sony website, and the instructions are almost identical to my GH-900, and the HDR works fine with that. Rgds. Les. |

Thanks microvent, and Les, your replies have helped.
I was expecting the sound system to auto select the input, when the component was swiched on. The Humax does work now that I manually select Sat on the sound system. The DVD does auto select, and I was expecting the humax to do the same. Thank you! Incidently it has made a vast difference to the sound, I am very impressed. The standard speaker set-up on the Sony Bravia wasn't very good. |

It is very easy to define activities such as "Watch Freesat", "Watch Freeview", "Watch Blu-Ray", and "Listen to FM Radio". Befind these activities, it switches on the right bits of kit, switches to the correct inputs/ouputs, etc. Rgds. Les. |

Les, thanks for the information.
It does get a bit tedious swapping between remotes. Most times I feel like a juggler, and the wife refuses to even look at the remotes. She just says "You do it". She is 73, though. I find modern technology a tad daunting also, so I do understand, and if I can find something to make it a little easier for both of us, it is welcome. What programmable remote do you suggest? |

However, the programming is done via a PC interface. The database contains the basic commands for most kit, but you will have to add some yourself. It probably took me 3 or 4 days of constantly changing my "Activities" before I was happy I got it right for me - not for the faint-hearted!! The Philips Pronto range, I believe, is also good. The One-for-All type range will not give you the flexibility to switch things on in the order you need them, set delays whilst things boot up, and switch inputs, all with the press of 1 button. Rgds.
