DVD Player easily programmed for CD track playing?
Hi Folks
We used to have a dedicated CD player that my wife could easily programme to play specific tracks on CDs - but I disposed of that (bad idea in hindsight!) when I got a DVD player, which she has very great difficulty in programming. Therefore she is pestering me to get her something that is as easily programmable as that we used to have - but there don't appear to be any low-cost dedicated CD players available today! ![]() Therefore can anyone point to a DVD player that meets that criteria? Advice in time for an Xmas present buy would really be appreciated! Thanks in advance. John PS: "Ultimate" audio quality is definitely not an issue here - just help me find a machine that will play the damned disks easily! |

Do you just want to be able to select, for example, track 3 on the CD and play that. Or to be able to tell it to play track 3 then track 7 then track 1 and so on one after the other?
I should think most players would let you select an individual track to play rather than just playing the entire disk. Being able to program it to play tracks in an order of your choosing may be more difficult. My Sony BDP-S350 can play CDs and lets you select the tracks individually but can't play a selection of tracks in any old order I might want. And the other thing to note is that to do this I have to turn the telly on since the track selection menu is only available from an on screen menu. The built in display on the player tells you sweet FA about the disk

Found a programmable one at Richer Sounds - Tangent CDP50 @ £60 -, and it's at a branch very near where I work, so picking it up on Monday.
![]() Will buy the 5yr extended warrantee for a tenner because this type of unit is now almost like hen's teeth unless you want to pay a lot of money - so goodness knows how I will get a replacement in a couple of years time if I don't! |
