I like RATM but this campaign is horrible.

The winner should have the number 1 record. I get that it does suck that XF keep getting the christmas #1 but like Simon says it makes no difference to him but it reflects horribly on to the winner.

What's mean about it? Why should the Xfactor winner have the Xmas no 1. Let the winner be no 1 the week after. Nothing mean about wanting to reclaim Christmas

Once Simon Cowell starts focusing on real music and not karaoke then we'll stop, but I doubt he will.

We gotta take the power back!

The campaign is justified. Cowell has bought Xmas and that's really crap.

He should push the final of the show back a week and release the winners sont thye week after Xmas. It can still be number one but we get back the magic of the Xmas number one.

Sorry, but I think people are deluded when they talk about the 'magic of the Christmas number 1'.

It's been a load of shite since the 80s.

Oh, how we long for the days when the Spice Girls and the Teletubbies did battle - year after year.

Why is it mean?.............Because they win the XFactor that entitles them to have a No1 hit at Christmas?........I'm not backing Rage myself but I certainly don't agree that every winner of the XFactor deserves to get to No1.........That's just silly.

yes but the winner should be able to enjoy the advantages that the other winners have.

If the campaign is about real music, then why are't these sort of campaigns happening all year long when we've had crap after crap foisted on us?. Without the XF what sort of xmas song are we missing? Cliff Richard?!

The campaign only really hurts the winner who will unfairly be labelled a failure.

The winner's sale will still stand. If they sell as much as Leona/Alexandra Simon won't give two shits they didn't get to number 1.

cowell has said that its the timing of the show that dictates the single's release - well, that's rubbish in my eyes, there's no harm in using his not-insubstantial-influence to have the show on at a different time of year. He HAS hijacked the Christmas No.1 single and I for one have had enough of it. The backlash has begun!

I have no problem with the winner enjoying a No.1 record, but the christmas No.1 should be less of a done deal, I remember fondly listening to the radio with baited breath when the christmas no.1 used to be revealed, I don't even bother listening anymore.

and let's face it, if leon jackson can have a no.1 single, it can happen to any x-factor winner (even Deadwood if they had got that far!)

This campaign will flop anyway, so no worries there for the winner

That is not the point. It is wondering what was going to be the no one, rather than who did actually win it.

It is terrible that some people think that winning Xfactor should mean getting the number one. Even if it was just for that reason, I fully support the campaign. What is failure about being number one the week after Christmas?

It's not just about the xmas number one either.

The way the Sunday show has been used this year as a springboard to the #1 single/album for whatever artist they wheeled out each week was taking the piss ...

I personally think this campaign's nothing more than a riot fest for a lot of the people who are taking part in it. Yes, there'll be some genuine people who are trying to make a statement, but as usual though, the rest will just think it's a right laugh to be part of this well publicised campaign that seems to be getting more publicity by the day.

Yes, it's really turned me off this year, with the Sunday show and the plugging and the miming...

Of course the campaign will flop. We've got a massive group of average joe Internet users who've "decided" that they're not happy with the possibility of Rage Against The Machine's song possibly not making it to the number one spot ..... what a shame for them. Then, we've got Simon Cowell ... someone who's got very powerful connections in the music business. Hmmn, I wonder who'll come out on top? These "protesters" will just be seen as your every day people that are kicking up a fuss over something they don't like. If none of these protesters have "connections" of any kind, they're likely to just fail miserably and then go back to what they were doing previously.

Why is it mean?

Not everyone likes to be told what music they should buy, or who should be #1. Likewise, not everyone will care who/what takes the top spot.

It's not like having a #1 single is going to set them right for the rest of their career. Look at previous reality TV winners. They can have a #1 single and then end up charting outside the top 10 following that.

I personally am very tempted to by RATM. If the XF winner feels secure enough to take the top spot, I'd be worried for them. It's false hope with little certainty until the single is released and the charts are announced.

Having said that, I don't care much for the charts anyway. haven't done for a long time. Most of the songs that top it are utter rubbish, IMO. It all comes down to perosnal opinions. Some people want to see XF winner at #1, some people would rather not. It's not life or death.

not every artist has benefited from TXF. Shakira didn't. Rihanna didn't really and neither did Cheryl, Alex or JLS who were #1 long before the show aired.

But clearly they do. Over half a million have signed up to the ratm4xmas#1 group. .. intiated by some random.

tbh im not even that worried.....if the facebook people were smart they would have picked a song people are more lilely to buy aroung xmas whether they saw the campaign or not like i wish it could be xmas everyday....theyd more likely get to number 1.....also they amount of follwers this group have is the about the same as the people who have preordered the winners song....

Its a spiteful campaign just aimed at bringing down Simon Cowell but it will end up hurting the winner instead. Even Leon Jackson got a xmas no.1 so it would be really unfair for this years winner not to get the same opportunity.
