I wouldn't be so sure..........Simon will be loving every minute of this!..........Can you imagine the publicity of it?........Simon doesn't give a flying fig if the winner gets to No1 this Christmas............The winner will sell more or less the same amount previous winners have sold, plus the amount Rage will sell.

Simon won't care if he gets good or bad publicity, All publicity is good & if Rage beat the winner, people will be talking about it for years. Either way Simon wins.

Wish he thought of that in the press conference.

Before branding us stupid and cynical yet raising £11k for charity.

Never know what? There's nowhere near enough campaigners to get this campaign taken really seriously and Simon knows this. Once this campaign reached 8 million subscribers, THEN it would likely get taken seriously. 400,000+ though ..... it's still just classed as a Facebook group that's done well with subscribers. For any petition to be taken seriously instantly, it needs to have members in the millions.

Don't you think it's up to the public what music they buy and for what reasons?

What is spiteful about not wanting the Xmas no one to be a foregine conclusion?

Who wants to bring Simon Cowel down? It won't matter to him.

Not getting Christmas no one is no big hurt! Joe is my favourite and if he wins I hope he gets to no one but AFTER Christmas.

I know people who are going to buy it multiple times though.

Xmas #1 isn't something that belongs to SC and somebody is trying to take it away from him. XF winner will have an unfair advantage - weeks of exposure on TV, that's something nobody else will have.

Just change the word "do" to "buy" and that would give a good message to Cowell and all those other eejits that make manufactured faceless pop.

No he didn't. Yet another user who's just speaking half truths. He said "I also think it's incredibly dismissive of the people who watch and enjoy the show when they treat our audience as if they're stupid. I don't like that." That isn't calling the campaigners stupid, but saying that they're treating the viewers/audience as if they're stupid.

????

I never said anyone should. Whether they let the Facebook Group influence their decision is their choice. Being told by some random to do it wouldn't be the deciding factor in whether I bought RATM or not. The fact it'd been a nice, refreshing change to hear something other topping the charts at Christmas than an XF winner WOULD.

I don't really care what music anybody else buys. That's their choice. I'd still love to see anybody else other than XF top the charts though. It's hardly the end of the world either way.

But you are, you are being told to buy RATM. Who are signed to Sony.

As far as rebellion goes this is an epic fail.

I genuinely can't grasp the furor that surrounds the Christmas no. 1... it's just another week where a shit song will have generated more revenue than a bunch of other shit songs.

The only music I ever hear on 25th December is whatever awful Westlife/Boyzone etc. 'best of' CD one of us has bought my Mum that gets played as background music to Christmas dinner.

Actually I forgot that part glad you brought it up!

Not stupid, just easily manipulated one of many examples using peoples personal stories and what not, i.e Stacey and her son.

You don't seem to be reading things properly/correctly. I said 8 million in reference to the amount of campaigners, NOT the viewers for the X-Factor. And Susan Boyle viewers never reached 8 million? Think again:

Well obviously not just the people I know but it's not like just people I know will be buying it more then once, there will be many many more I don't know who will buy it more then once.

Are people you know who will buy the x factor single be the only ones who buy that song?

I don't get it? Christmas No.1 is a Christmas No.1 Prrrt!

Now what really concerns me are the masses which make it the No.1

... meh thinks that there are deeper issues in the industry to be wringing hands over, rather than this nonsense.
