I know this may seem like a lot of money to fork out but will pay for itself in the long run, its an absolute godsend and I can highly recommend it.

Not just for nuisance calls, but sales calls, cold calls, overseas calls and there is a whole bunch of options to get your own back etc.

Truecall
Had one of these for a year now and this household has been peaceful since I bought it.

We used to be plagued by all manner of call centers even though our phone is registered under the TPS scheme.

It's fairly easy to set up and the degree of call screening is very flexible.

At the extreme end of the settings, you can choose to accept only calls which are on a list of numbers you have provided.

Another way of operating is to enter specific numbers which you definitely don't want to answer or which can receive a "polite" message to stop calling.

I have in my hand, a recorded delivery letter from Mandy Marshall, at the Argos Card Services "resolution team", based on Royal Avenue, Widnes, WA88 1AL. It's in response to a letter I sent a week or so ago.

The letter reads:

I have now investigated your complaint and advise that your telephone number was attached to the account you have mentioned in your letter. This will be investigated as an internal issue as to how this has happened.

I can assure you that your telephone number has now been removed from this account and you will not receive any more telephone calls regarding this matter.
Since receiving the letter on Friday morning, I have had a further five telephone calls from Argos Card Services at 01204 677400, all asking for Andrea Norton. The tone of the man who phoned this morning was vaguely menacing.

What precisely am I meant to do here? Go up there and not leave until I've watched them take my number off? All they seem to be able to do is lie. I don't want to buy a £100 box, or pay a monthly fee for BT's number blocking service, in response to someone else's cock up. I don't get any nuisance calls other than these, and I've got other things I'd rather spend my £100 on.

I suggest you answer each call and say,

Do not allow them to interrupt you at any time and, if they say anything except, "I apologise for troubling you" when you reach the end, just repeat that whole speech from the beginning.

Did you email the ceo of Argos. I left the link for you.

sara.weller@argos.co.uk

I have emailed her mefore she is quite co-operative.

I suppoose you could always log a complaint through the financial ombudman service. The pleasure of this is they will be charged £500.00 for this.

Unless the OP already has then the thing to do is bang off letters to:

chief executive
chairman
chief financial officer
card services manger

Of Argos and explain what has been going on. Make it clear in each letter that an identical letter has been sent to those other people listed.

That last thing is what makes them think a bit about what they are going to do about the situation

If you can run to the cost send them special delivery, £5 each I think. It shows you mean business.
