Have there been any other examples of standing ovations by the Pro dancers?

I couldn't understand why Ricky and Natalie received one for their Tango tonight. Unless it was contrived.

I could.

It was outstanding.

The pros were merely showing their appreciation.

I remember they gave Cherie & James a standing ovation for their Rumba as well.

I think it's a lovely gesture.

Obviously because they know what they are looking at, and can appreciate how well he danced it!

I assume they gave the standing ovation, because they thought it was good? We all have our different opinions and preferences, but the professionals probably reward excellency. I'm a Chris fan, and I enjoyed their dance a lot, but Ricky was very good.

Didn't you enjoy it then? I thought it was utterly brilliant.

Because it was the best dance of the night maybe?

Yes, quite possibly it was. The best dance of the night though doesn't usually get a standing ovation from the pro-celebs.

The pro dancers obviously enjoyed the routine. Doesn't mean that it wasn't a good routine because you didn't enjoy it.

Technically he's dancing the best any male has danced on strictly. The pro's are impressed.

It's been said a few times on ITT by the pro's how good he is, of course technique doesn't always sell a dance to the public but I think the pro dancers want to acknowledge it at least.

It was because Ricky was outstanding and yet again was the best dancer tonight. He did Vincent & the rest of his supporters soooo proud!

The pros recognise a fantastic performance when they see it. It's sad that Ricky doesn't get the public support his ability deserves - I'm glad the pros appreciate him.

Im no fan of Ricky's either - well, should I say I wasnt a fan -til tonight!

For the first time this series I cared about whether or not he made the final -and voted for him!

I think it was warranted. Ricky pulled off the technique and a convincing performance. Credit where it's due.

Tonight is the first time I've voted for him.

Are you suggesting Brendan and Jame were told to stand and they said yes sir yes sir three bags full. You cant believe that they were told to stand up it's wishful thinking on your part perhaps.

I wouldn't phrase it like that exactly, but yes, pretty much.

Tee hee

You have come across Brendan and James on the show, right?

It's not been a great series so it's not necessarily helpful to compare with dances in other series, but Ricky's AT was probably the best (in terms of technique and performance combined) dance this year. The semi desperately needed it. I don't think anyone manipulated the pros.

So agree - I found myself standing up and its so lovely to see the Pro's appreciation - yes he did Vincent proud and Vincent seems so friendly with Natalie and Ricky and when he left the competition he said he wanted his ladies to vote for Ricky as he should win.

I agree. I was a little surprised when he received a standing ovation from the professionals for the Waltz..but the AT was fantastic.
I also believe the pros would take into account the degree of difficulty involved, and the AT is notoriously difficult for anyone without experience.

Exactly, in case people dont realise James is Olas HUSBAND! Hes 100% behind team cola so he wouldnt have given a standing ovation to another competitor unless he really felt they deserved it.

I thought that AT deserved it !

Could it be that the pros wanted to give unpopular Ricky and Natalie a helping hand, and a hint to the voters? Len went out of his way to say,

"The British love an underdog, but they also love justice. It would be an injustice if you (Ricky) did not make the Final."

The two actions together may just have tipped the balance. If Len had wanted Chris thrown out instead of Ricky, in practice five-10s Ali got the bullet.

Well, I'm no expert but that AT by Ricky and Natalie looked as if it had been expertly danced with a high degree of difficulty (help, I sound like a diving commentator now).

I was really impressed with it as a viewer and wasn't surprised to see it being acknowledged in that way by the pro dancers.

Next week will be interesting!

Didnt the Pros also give Ricky a standing ovation at the end of his Quickstep?
