Ricky and Chris for the final

I'd love to see a 3 person final, but now the phone lines have opened that blatantly isn't going to happen.

So, if we have to eliminate someone, for me it has to be Ali and Brian.

I want to see Ricky in the final because I think he's got the best combination of technique and performance. He's worked hard alongside his day job and although he's had a few dodgy moments he's the best all rounder left. He had some incredibly tough choreography to pull off tonight and he did it.

I want to see Chris in the final because he has embraced the whole spirit of the show entirely. He's not in Ricky's league but nor is he a John Sergeant. Forget the trout pout, Bruno, the guy's not an actor. What he does do, consistently, is communicate whatever a particular dance is about. The mood of his rumba and the AT tonight were spot on. I don't think I've ever enjoyed a partnership as much as his and Ola's.

Ali is a lovely person, and her ballroom dances have a lot to commend them. But considering she is an actress, she actually does a less good job than Chris of communicating the character - she may well 'pull the right face' but she doesn't convey the heart of it.

I can envisage Ricky doing an awesome Latin show dance, and Chris doing something cute and endearing. But I just cannot picture an Ali showdance looking like anything other than another American smooth. I want to be wowed and/or entertained, and I don't think she can deliver.

So I want a Ricky vs Chris final - both have had my votes tonight.

Anyone else agree?

In keeping with too much of this series, I thought generally it was rather a dull and lacklustre semi with only one worthy finalist...but the judges got the order right as usual.

Agree with OP, it's Ricky and Chris for me by a mile.

Ali and Chris for me. One is the better dancer, the other the better performer.

Sorry but ricky just bores me - no matter how "technically good" he may be. I drifted off during his waltz

You are so spot on, I couldn't agree more. I do like Ali and Brian, and if I had a choice I would have a three person final (bl**dy BBC). However the last two weeks, Ali was underwhelming, Ricky is fantastic (through gritted teeth as I don't like his pro-partner), and Chris and Ola have something that I cannot define (fun, entertainment, unusual chemistry).

Yep, this would be the most entertaining option of a pretty lacklustre series.

I'm not sure I could stand more starry - teary - wimpy VTs. (though really, that's not Ali's fault, more the editors for taking a 'journey' and going on and on and on...)

Ali and Brian's AT had the same effect on me I'm afraid. I actually found myself thinking 'This is going on a bit, isn't it'?. And there were quite a few wobbles.

I don't think Ricky's waltz was necessarily as crowd pleasing as his week 1 version. But there was some darn tricky footwork in there and I was impressed by how he pulled it off.

I've cast my votes. Just have to wait to see how it turns out now...

For us more-or-less neutrals I think an Ali V Ricky final is the only option where any sense of doubt will remain as to who will eventually lift the trophy next week...If Chris goes through tonight they might as well hand him the trophy now

I just really want Ricky to get through, that's all.

Didn't really enjoy the dances by Chris&Ola or Ali&Brian - and their kiss really put me off. Keep it to yourselves -vom! I also think Ali & Brian were overmarked too and I expected more from their American Smooth of course her AT was a snore for me although you can see she was going for a character this time which was good (though it seems the actual dance was comprimised). Her AS is supposed to be a strength for them so they could've done more extravagant moves and lifts.
As for Chris & Ola...I liked Ola's re-choreography of the Rumba, she looked really good but Chris just walked around, really and the hands were very distracting and ugly to watch. I didn't like their AT music when I first heard it and it came under my expectations as I thought they looked the best in training.

Usually I agree. Every year I vote for who I think is technically the best dancer.

However - charisma, chemistry, partnering, performance and conveying emotion to the audience are also part of dancing. That's why Chris pips Ali for me this year.

I hope Ricky wins, I'm really behind him now. I enjoyed Chris and Ola's AT better than Ali and Brian's tonight though and their performances in general - even if they are not usually technically as good. Ali excels in elegant ballroom, but I don't enjoy her so much in other routines.

It'll be a disgrace if Ricky doesn't get through.

But not a surprise, unfortunately.

If it comes down to the entertainer v the dancer - then it's Chris v Ricky for me.

I'm confident that Chris will make it through - so my money went on Ricky.

Me too Erinfan.
I've actually been a detractor of Ricky's and found him quite soulless and dull. But...tonight, i've changed my mind -he was fantastic! (I've always been fickle!).

I've even gone and thrown him a couple of votes!

I've been voting Chris and Ricky tonight. On balance, Chris and Ricky appeal to me for the same reasons as the OP.

I hope it's Ricky and Chris. Ricky impressed me, Chris entertained and Ali? She was a bit 'meh' tonight.

I think the boys would give the more entertaining final.

I'm annoyed by Brian resorting to what I call dirty tactics with the kiss. Blatant vote grabber.

Come on, Cola!

I started off not being able to stand him. I've been completely converted though. I love his musicality and the sway he puts into his ballroom is sublime.
