Sad sad sad comment.... not a Brian and Ali fan were you?

You could see him was surprised by the decision and why shouldnt he smile? Personally I thought it was a smile of disbelief!!!

[She was really nice about getting voted off and I felt really sorry for both of them. I'm annoyed that Chris and Ola are through, not least because I will now have to sit through more of their nauseating training VTs, but thems the breaks on a popularity contest like Strictly. I'm so relieved that Ricky made it though - I wouldn't have bothered watching an Ali/Chris final.[/quote]

Cool, I agree that an Ali/Chris final could have been dull. I was a Cola supporter but now I want Ricky to win. He's been the best and most consistant dancer throughout. Of course it should be a 3 person final and he should be up against Jade and Zoe, but hey ho!

Sorry to dissapoint but I supported the best dancer as that is what I watch the show for therefor I was not supporting Ali although she should be in the final with the best dancer not the worst who is Chris.

Thank you.

I know that alot of people won't believe a word I am saying but it is true. It is sad that alot of people on this board just cannot accept that he is a genuinely nice guy. The hate towards him on this board is ridiculous. I have never been a big fan of Ali, but I would never sink so low as to criticise her for being too nice and making out that she must have some sort of a hidden agenda.

TBH - I didn't even notice Chris...was focused on the blubbing ladies

Though it does remind me of the backlash Natalie L got when people were accusing her of being arrogant during Nat C's departure. To me she looked relieved at getting thru...and Chris's expression was probably the same thing. It's a long day/night for them so I don't think it's worth over analysing them on what looked like an emotional night for them all.

This thread has to take the biscuit for the 'What? ' factor' this week.

'Sly smile' and 'smirk'?

Natalie definitely looked like she had already been crying and just lost it completely when they got through. Chris was ready to go home or stay, but it clearly meant so much to Ola. Ali and Brian knew they were out as soon as it was announced that Ricky and Natalie were through. The pros were all very tense tonight and obviously want to make the final more than the celebs, who all wanted to get there for their pro's sake as much as anything else.

There are some very, very bitter people on here tonight.

Well wake up, as a dance competition it finished last year, Strictly is simply an entertainment competition. There first dance was very entertaining. I dont care about technically better, Ali's routines were very safe and boring, the Chris fella entertained me, so for the first time this year, I voted.

Agreed, Buddy. They are talking about sly smile? They obviously haven't watched the very botoxed Simon Cowell.

It has never been a dance competition. It has always been a entertainment dancing competition.

Totally agree Buddy. Good to have you back btw - hope you are fully recovered.

All I saw was Chris thanking the public when his name was read out. What was he supposed to do after that - start blubbing to join in with everyone else.

I think that the people who feel it the most are the pros. Rather than being angry, let's see it this way - this is Ola Jordan's 4th series and it's the first time she or her husband have got that far! I'm so over the moon for her! And seeing her emotions as she gets through week by week is enriching! This is a woman who is a far bigger dance talent and personality who happened to get the crowd pleaser this series. But that crowd pleaser can actually dance! That's why his lowest score this week was 7. Which is probably, for this stage of the series comparative with last weeks - q/f- 8. It's the same score. 8 last week with no improvement means a 7.

It didn't look like a sly smile to me. Chris doesn't come across as being a sly sort of character at all.

I so agree, Ola always has way of putting together a routine that entertains and she always get's the songs choices right. She put her heart and soul into this series, I hope she win's.

Come off it, there have been so many couples across all the series that have stood there with the spot light on them smiling because they think they are going to go home.

If all you people didnt like the fact that he got through then you should have voted for Ali. Personally I would have liked to see Ricky go.

Chris really is what the show is all about. He has progressed and he has never had any inkling of dancing experience and as such has done remarkably well to get so far. Has no one noticed that Chris and Ola got the same mark for their Argentine Tango as Ali and Brian -so are they really that bad. I think not.

Every year so many people are unhappy with the results, get over it. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, thats why there is a public vote- at the end of the day its just a programme.

Good luck to team Cola they do deserve it!

Chris was the worst dancer this week and no surprises saw off one of the best of this series.

Natasha Kaplinsky. Jill Halfpenny. Darren Gough. Mark Ramprakash. Alesha Dixon. Tom Chambers. Chris Hollins.

Can Chris really stand up to them? Even people like Darren Gough could WIPE THE FLOOR with his gurning.”

I have to take exception here. Darren Gough was cr*p at gurning. Chris would have hung him out to dry...

Okay, I'm being frivolous but it really is all the thread deserves.

Well I just skipped through recorded SDC

I watched the dances, skipped the comments then sat and watched the results

Now I dont have any axe to grind and I certainly dont have any faves although I thought Ricky and Natalie performed the best tonight

All the dancers throughout SCD have entertained me

As I watched the results I noticed the smile on Chris

I didnt think it was sly but boy did I think it was smug and cocky

I thought he knows he's got it in the bag the cocky little *@#$

Everyone else was in bits and he stood there with this smug, cocky grin on his face when a better dancer had just gone out

IMO it wasnt nerves or relief that he had stayed it was pure cockyness that he had 'got one over' on better dancers

I know its an entertainment programme, I know not always the best singer/dancers always get through but its just not on to stand grinning like a loon when another persons dreams? have been shatterd

Chris knows he has the BBC on his side and knows he doesnt have to do much other than pull a few faces and joke around with Ola to win but he shouldnt crap on other peoples feelings as he progresses to the winning post

Ola at least had the decency to look upset at how Ali and Brian were feeling if Chris was not so up himself he could learn a lot more than dancing from her

Chris possibly has looked at the forums/betting and taken into account he`s never been in the bottom two despite being middle/low end of the leaderboard. I know there`s no certainty in this show but he must know he`s very popular with the public.

I have no axe to grind at all. I wanted Ali to win, but thems the breaks. But my second faves have always been Chris and Ola. But that put me right off him tonight, Ricky was in bits, looked really upset for Ali as well. But Chris didn't show anything really when his name was read out. Wasn't surprised or shocked...just had that smile on his face. It was a bit weird.

Its strange how people view things differently. I have just gone back on catch up and watched the end. Yes Chris was smiling but I think it was because he was pleased he was through. I think Ricky's reaction was more to do with shock that he had made it to the final after being in the dance off last week not sympathy for Ali. However, it may be that he thinks that he doesn't stand a chance against Chris.

Chris is obviously very popular with the public and it is was me I think I would have a smile from ear to ear.

Both of Ricky and Chris showed relief when their names were called out. Chris and Ola then both went and consoled Brian and Ali.

Slapper:
I would think that Ricky was in bits because he knew how he and Natalie were bottom with the voters, it was probably relief. Similarly, Chris was smiling because he was pleased to be in the final.

I would have been grinning like a Cheshire cat, and I bet you would have been too.
