I believe Emmerdale may have violated ITC law tonight.Did any1 notice that on the school bus,as it was driving away an ITV Digital poster was on the back of it?Im sure this was deliberate. And equally shameful considering Emmerdale has sometimes blocked out the company name on a jumper or shoe e.g-blurring out Nike or Reebok.Whos going to ITC they dont get away with it ?

Mark Renolds was on the other night and you could see his feet, he was wearing a pair of Adidas Country trainers. You were attracted to them more because Mark was sitting down twitching his legs like us lads do for some reason, so you couldnt miss them.

This is a deliberate act to advertise Adidas! LOL

Night and Day takes the biscuit with clear product placements as everyone on the programme has a Nokia Mobile phone. The full range is on display from the communicator (with fold out email keyboard thing) to the basic ones like the 3310.

Hollyoaks also advertises Nokia mobiles and Nike Cortez trainers i reckon. Unless its just because most young people have both, i dont know?

or how about Eastenders a few weeks ago. Roy left his mobile in the bog and someone gave it to Pat. she read a text message then deleted it and low and behold as clear as day UK VODAFONE was to be seen

brands are everywhere in real life though, so u could argue that they have to be seen to make a soap realistic- plus it really doesn't bother me! i don't care if they want to sell me something- only on programmes such as the news would i object to commercial interest.

agreed - its more obvious when you see, for instance, a box of cornflakes with the brand name blacked out - it makes you notice it more.
As long as its not obvious does it matter?

Even more noticeable was the Powergen logo on the external connector box outside the Woolpack.

After running a still shot from last nights episode through a digital scanner, I was able to magnify the image x500 and sure enough you can see in the bottom left-hand corner a motif which is often used by Powergen.

It's an outrage that companies are now relying on the high/glamourous profile of soap stars and buildings in order to encourage sales further. My Auntie in Cumbria will no doubt be swithcing to the Powergen supply now that her favourite soap pub has joined them. I will have to send her the 17th hand picture though as she doesn't actually have any method of magnifying such split second images...!

What about Sporting events?

Sky and ITV ad's are placed around footie piches to attract peoples attention and there is nothing wrong with this.

Yes, do shoe manufacturers put springs in shoes coz i cant help bouncing and twitching my legs about, as many others seem to do as well. Nearly everyone at College does this and i just wonder why we do it?

Is it boredom?

The girls at my old school used to tell us it was from sexual frustration. Dunno about that, could be to keep yer family jewels warm, or even help the circulation...

If in a soap every time a brand name was there, it was covered up with black tape would you think the soap was realistic? How often do you go to a shop or someone elses house and the brand name on a product is blanked out? Anyway, if something is blacked out, as has been said, it makes you notice it more.

If every one brough everything they saw around footy pitches all footy viewers would have subs to Sky Digital, ntl and ITV Digital, as well as Canal +, Canal Satellite etc etc....

Does anyone remember the Sky Remote that stayed on the screen in the flash advert longer than the bottle of flash?

I don't think there is anything wrong with it in soaps, it does make it more realistic.

On things like Art Attack they always have sneaky stickers over logos, or Smartie tubes are covered in a roll of paper that says "Sweets."

And when they say "Get a crisp tin" - AFAIK only Pringles do crisps in a tin?

They always cover the logos on Big Brother too, and in regard to mobile phones, all phones even Motorolas have the Nokia Message beep on Coronation Street. Must just be a common association.

Ahhh, but you'll notice that the Cashpoint at the Walford tube station carries a made-up name of a Bank. Also the company that installed a satellite dish a few months ago has a ficticious name...

Why do the producers go to such great lengths NOT to publicise some products and yet give free adverts to the likes of Vodaphone?

I'd suggest that possibly someone was given a backhander.?.

(Remember the controversy some years ago where people were allegedly *paying* money to get a bit part in Eastenders?)

But its actually a cardboard tube, with a metal end and a plastic lid... (just being picky! )

Actually, Bahlsen (spelling may be wrong) make crisps in a tube too - they have been at it far longer than Pringles. I remember eating them 15 years ago, long before Pringles appeared on our shores...
