I don't think Olly should ever have made the top 12.

His 'Superstition' easily one the first round tonight though.

im not a fan of the song but the production was great......the dancers were amazing.....joe won all three rounds for me...
angels was awful imo.....it was like 2 drunks in a pub.....

Olly was utterly brilliant last night & this from me who has criticised him mercilessly.

It was his best performance & the best performance of the series.

Olly just highlighted how bland Joe is.

I thought it was brave of him to do that, he did not need to make it so complicated but in doing so I felt he scored a point or two over Joe.

But let's get into context. Stevie Wonder had the X-Factor, Olly is light years away from that and if he ever records "Superstition", who's going to play that on the radio rather than the original ?

Stacy lost cause she was paired with Michael (Who) Buble.........most young voters have never heard of him. compared with Robbie.

Totally agree, (althought Angels was a disappointment!). His other 2 performances were excellent though!

All Joe did was sing ballad after ballad, he sang well but I wasn't really entertained.

No ... his performance was ok but if you look away from the screen for a minute you'll hear that his vocals are dire. He's a very poor singer and will not record well.

Superstition was world class.

I was so looking forward to him doing Superstition again - and he didn't disappoint. It was fab. He can sing too - given the right songs.

Just as Joe has a fantastic voice when HE is given the right songs. He is always given big ballads because that's what he does best. Give him some rock number and he would prob. fall flat on his face.

I love Olly anyway - don't suppose he'll win - esp. as winner's single is apparently a big ballad - but he's done well.

Wasn't the slip deliberate?

I think that Olly has been a weak singer all the way through and was convinced that he would be the one goig last night, but I was pleasantly surprised by his superstition performance. It definitely helped him to get through even though Robbie Williams missed his cue on their duet.

I am not an Olly fan and think that Joe is definitely the better singer and am supporting him to win tonight. It would not surprise me if Olly won though.

Olly referred to it in his after-performance interview leading me to assume he meant it wasn't deliberate.

I know many people think Joe has it in the bag - myself included actually - but I've noticed that even people who aren't generally Olly fans, saying how much they liked his performance of "Superstition" tonight.

I'm an Olly fan, and thought it was outstanding... definitely his best night, and even his best performance on the series.

Plus, I know many people thought Olly would leave tonight... and yet, he's in the top two... was it down to that performance?

I'm expecting negative comments of course... but it'd be nice to have some honest and constructive opinions on this. ”

I thought it was fantastic very entertaining.

I've turned around completely & I actually feel that it would be better if Olly won.

Vocally he is not a patch on Joe & he can't dance as well as people keep telling him, but after watcgin his 'Superstition' performance, it made me realise he is 10x the popstar that Joe could ever be.

Get him in a studio, with the right production, his voice won't be a problem.

Get him the right choreographer to practice his dancing; as long as he doesn't go OTT with the dancing, he'll be OK.

He proved last night that he 'owns' the stage & if you have that kind of ability, you're halfway there already.

They showed it on Xtra Factor, it was definitely an accidental slip. I did thin it was part of the performance though at the time

Fair enough, it's just because it was in time with the beat of the music I thought it might have been deliberate.

It totally looked like it could have been a dance move, and the "woh" is quite like what he does sometimes too. Quite funny how many people thought it was part of the routine (me included)

I can't decide whether that is a good or bad thing for Olly, lol...

Know what you mean. Great because he recovered it so well, or bad because slipping over and hitting himself in the face is believable as one of his dance moves

It was VERY good indeed. Good singing, dance routine, movement and performance.

Which it what really annoys me when people "Well at least Joe can sing!" What do you think Olly did and did very well?

They seem to make out that Olly was singing flat all night in every song and can't hit a single note, whilst wonder boy has a voice sent from God instead of being an average balled singer.

Olly did what no one else did, he put in a complete and professional, entertaining performance.

112% agree
So Joe's a more powerful singer than him, but Olly can still sing! Think he proved last night with ALL his songs, superstition especially, that given the right song, he can really sing
I really want him to win tonight, and still think he can, but i'm worried about this winners song, Simon even said yesterday that he'd be struggling with it...

But first or second, he proved last night that he can really command a stage and be a potentially great popstar.
Thank god they did their audition songs instead of christmas ones!

I actually think Olly has more potential to shine tonight if he does well because everyone expects Joe's version to be amazing and for Olly not to sound good, so if Joe is anything less than perfect people will be disappointed and if Olly is good it will really surprise and impress people.

Re Angels - you could see from the shots of Simon's face and Olly's that they were both waiting to announce the fact Robbie was coming on - and then he came on to mess up his own iconic song.

too cheesy for words

it was his best performance yet stylish cool something joe couldnt possibly do

I've not got Olly since day one but thought Superstition was his best vocal. I started a thread last week wondering why Simon had chosen to send Olly down the cheesy route rather than making him a bit of a blue eyed soul boy and last night made me think that's certainly where he should have gone.

However, I still hated the whole cabaret performance. The whole silly dancing and OTT backing dancers is still far too 'seaside special' and just makes it look dated and cheesy.
