Oh, I understand now. You don't "get" either McCartney or Mozart. Ergo, they're both sh1t.

I see...

Wings did a version I recall. It was used on the show about the time M30 was conceived.

And your point is?

I'm not the one seeking to celebratre my greatness and pontificating about the dangers of eating sausages and famine in Ethiopia.

Was that their inspiration for it?

Probably.

I seem to recall a bright star settling over Manchester but being in West Yorkshire at the time I couldn't find two other wise men to join me in my journey across the M62.

I'm not aware he has ever tried to "celebratre" (sic) his greatness by doing either. Actually, I find his veggie crusade tiresome and always have, but respect his right to his view.

And can one eat "sausages and famine" as your grammar suggests? I usually have egg and bacon with mine. Still, live and let fry...

To be honest I always prefered John Lennon but McCartney provided the blueprint for the low key celebrity lifestyle. His children went to the local state school and he didn't surround himself with hundreds of security personnel.

You're taking me to task over a typo and a grammatical slip-up?

Now my English Language lesson is over, can we get back to the matter in hand?

I just feel that Paul McCartney is smug and self-aggrandising. Yes, he's sold a lot of records in the 60s, but he's clinging on to past glories.

You're entitled to your opinion, and I'm entitled to mine. And mine is that I think he's rubbish

I have to say I was gob smacked when I metioned his numerous performances in Wings with his late wife and daughter asked if she were the same woman who made the sausages.

I'm pleased that her legacy has lived on, however bizarrely.

Linda McCartney's contribution to society eclipsed that of her husband IMO. She was a beautiful human being and I personally hold her in very high esteem. God knows how she tolerated being married to that old curmudgeon.

Such as shame she's no longer with us

I understand you are no fan of Macca but they were both very much in love and devoted to each other.
Sorry

You could say that about any pop star/rock group that have been around long enough. Most artists have a finite period when they are at their most creative and then very rarely manage to top it.

The fact is, that Macca was songwriter for the Beatles and his productivity went on through the 70's with wings and into the 80's (I'll skim over the frog chorus).

Let's face it, Mick Jagger isn't as good as he was 40 years ago either. Arguably, Madonna isn't as good as she was 25 years ago. etc etc etc.

What do you suggest? People produce 1 or two albums and then go and hide in a cellar for the rest of their lives because they are over 25?

If the leg comes off because of your pulling, we'll know why M30 dislikes Paul McCartney

Exactly. When you think of the amazing groundbreaking albums he wrote with John Lennon at such a young age..to expect him to constantly recreate that is nigh impossible. People still want to hear those songs and to see him perform them.

Have you been living on Mars He's had multi million selling albums and singles in the 70's, 80's 90's and the 2000's. I also stated last night night he is listed in the guinness book of records as the most successful artist and performer ever if you care to look back a few pages. He has earned the right to his glories in every decade I have mentioned whether you like him or not do your research into the man before spouting bile and false facts. Paul McCartney along with the rest of The Beatles will still have fans long after you or the small babies of this world now have long gone. In the writing of music history you'll be lucky if the X-Factor or the contestants even get a line in a history book. As some have said it was a raw live performance you'll hear at gigs of real musicians whether young or old. Go to some local live music venues and see what a raw performance is not performances from X-Factor contestants on what is now regarded as a 2nd rate saturday night TV show compared to the quality of weekend television of the past.

God he was just awful. He is, was, and always will be the most smug, arrogant, self-serving, hypocritical, egotistical bore of a man to me.

I don't give a tiny toss how much he's sold, blah, blah, blah, I can't stand the please-god-stop-dying-your-hair pr*ck.

FYI, I don't want/need converting or anyone telling me I've wrong. It's my opinion, I'm entitled to express it and anyone is entitled to disagree, but they cannot say it's wrong.

of course he would, basically the inventors of pop music and boybands looking down on a show that glorifies that type of music. Got to love stuck-up Beatles fans, always ignoring the fact that they basically gave us Westlife and Take that
