As far as Westlife or other bands like that go some of them actually worked hard for along time before that. I remember Take That on the Hitman & Her if you remember that show a couple of years before they even made a dent on the charts. The reason i watched Hitman & Her was because I picked up on a lot of club tracks long before they were hits. The comparison of Big Brother to X-Factor is way wide of the mark it's a totally different type of show.”

It's not though, is it.

Someone turning up to audition in front of Cowell with a guitar and a song of their own composition, they'd be told to piss off and come back without the guitar to do a Boyzone cover.

It's not about finding talented singer-songwriters - an example of one is Alistair Griffin - very talented guy but Fame Academy was the wrong vehicle for him.

Boyzone and Westlife and truly manufactured and I won't be told otherwise, Nigel Martin Smith spent a long time plugging Take That - they did a U18 night at a local club, I saw them in my early teens in the small town in which I grew up.

Although I'm as keen on Take That, Westlife etc as I am on that old man who keeps sticking his thumbs up and grinning

There is nothing in the rules of the X-Factor to say that someone can't turn up and play a guitar at their audition my wife watches it more and has said people have done so in the past.

It is a singing contest plain and simple a gameshow is something like Family Fortunes, Strike It Lucky, 3-2-1, Hole In The Wall etc etc etc too many to list. I have studied broadcasting and media plus been involved in radio so i do know the difference.

Maybe Cowell needs to look at the Fame Academy style format but of course ITV and his company would say too much costs, too much hassle we can't let the public see the mistakes, warts and all we have to keep the format squeaky clean. He's out to make quick money and you can tell when he sees those ££££££££ signs in front of his face. He's as bad as our bankers threatening to quit unless they get their bonuses. Just checking I spelt bankers right, yeah I did

Bring back decent Weekend Shows that people can record and look forward to watching later if they're out or working at the weekend. i can't even remember the last programme I recorded on a weekend I wanted to watch later on terrestial TV.

That 'montage' was called Live and Let Die - it wasn't a montage

Mm, well Paul SOLD OUT in 4 seconds and it was very hard for anybody to get tickets. I'm sure if he schedualed another 3 stadium concerts he'd sell THEM out in 12 seconds. Etc, etc, until you get the number of concerts Jacko was planning.

And remember Paul didn't have a "this is it - the FINAL tour" tag. This is just another tour like any other that sold out in 4 seconds. Without much advertising AT ALL, in fact it was only announced on HIS official website a day before the pre-sale.

Look at the audiences at Paul's concerts. I just found this one. They look at him with such ADORATION. Real, dedicated love.

No way should Paul stop touring for a long time yet. It would hurt so many people.
