Andrew Neil welcomed all the "new" viewers watching this lunch, saying due to the snow they are expecting their largest rating ever, while Chris Evans on This Morning telling Holly Willoughby 10 million could be watching due to the snow and enjoy herself as millions extra will be watching.
Will be very interesting how accurate they both are. I do expect ratings to be up across the board though. Looking forward to the primetime ratings....

I think the news ratings will soon start to dip as this snow news is bordering on the brain dead. I watched a bit of each last night and was treated to the following revelations:
1 when snow freezes it turns to ice 2 ice is slippy 3 cars dont cope with ice well 4 children are building snowmen & throwing snowballs 5 aniumals dont like the snow anyone who can take more than 15 minutes of this "news for morons" is a stronger man than me. Thank God for NewsNight last night. Real news for grown ups. |

BBC One 18:00 - BBC News at Six: 6.9m (27.8%) 18:30 - Regional News and Weather: 10.3m (38.8%) 19:00 - Celebrity Mastermind: 6.9m (26.2%) 19:30 - Nigel Slater's Simple Suppers: 4.6m (18.0%) 20:00 - The Big Freeze: A BBC News Special: 5.9m (22.3%) 20:30 - My Family: 4.44m (16.7%) 21:00 - New Tricks: 3.85m (14.2%) * 3.8m to 1.d.p. 22:00 - BBC News at Ten: 5.8m (24.1%) 22:25 - Regional News and Weather: 5.8m (25.9%) BBC Two 18:00 - Eggheads: 2.3m (9.4%) 18:30 - Great British Railway Journeys: 1.8m (6.6%) 19:00 - World Darts 2010: 1.4m (5.3%) 20:00 - Natural World: 2.28m (8.5%) 21:00 - Horizon: 2.37m (8.8%) 22:00 - Nurse Jackie: 1.2m (4.9%) ITV1 18:30 - ITV News & Weather: 5.4m (20.3%) 19:00 - Emmerdale: 8.0m (30.1%) 19:30 - Lion Country: 4.8m (18.8%) 20:00 - You've Been Framed! Kids Special: 5.06m (19.0%) 21:00 - Above Suspicion: 6.85m (25.2%) * 6.9m to 1.d.p. 22:00 - ITV News at Ten & Weather: 3.7m (15.5%) Channel 4 18:00 - The Simpsons: 2.4m (9.6%) 18:30 - Hollyoaks: 1.5m (5.5%) 19:00 - Channel 4 News: 1.2m (4.7%) 19:55 - 3 Minute Wonder: 1.1m (4.1%) 20:00 - Relocation, Relocation: 2.3m (8.7%) 21:00 - Gordon Ramsay's F Word: 2.69m (9.9%) 22:00 - Celebrity Big Brother: 3.02m (14.7%) Five 18:25 - Live From Studio Five: 0.3m (1.3%) 19:30 - Highland Emergency: 1.1m (4.5%) 20:00 - Trial of the Knights Templar: 1.19m (4.5%) 21:00 - NCIS: 1.05m (3.8%) * 1.0m to 1.d.p. 22:00 - NCIS: 1.3m (5.9%) Sky1 20:00 - Fat Families: 483,000 (1.8%) ------ The 3 stand out ratings there are obviously the fantastic ratings for the Regional News and Celebrity Mastermind. Given that Celebrity Mastermind is only 1.1m behind Emmerdale, I'm tempted to call Emmerdale's rating poor... although I won't. BBC's makeshift schedule did OK, and ITV did well with YBF! and Above Suspicion. I bet daytime did really well yesterday as well, with mainly 2/3m ratings. |

Shock news re J Ross.
Wonder what slot ITV will give him - 9pm, or stick to 10.30? Bet Piers isn't impressed...

Yesterday on Twitter he said he had a meeting with someone who had flown in from the US especially, so he had to go despite the snow.
Maybe he's signed a deal in the US? |

Surprising considering people were suggesting New Tricks could dent (or even beat) Above Suspicion. Glad it finished on a high though.

So, BBC One now have a massive gap in their Friday night schdule. I can't see Norton taking on a show 42 weeks a year, as his other committments (Eurovision, ALW shows) wouldn't leave him with much time off.
Personally, I'd love to see the BBC sign up Dara O'Briain. He and Norton could alternate with each other, which would give the channel two good presenters in that slot, but would also allow the pair to pursue other projects at the same time. |

It will be interesting what the BBC do to fill the gap when Ross leaves in the summer!!
I must admit he made some very interesting documentaries for the BBC, the one I remember was a series about the darker side of Hollywood and its stars..which was very interesting and well made..I don't think it has ever been repeated..which is a shame! As for a chat show host I think he was starting to get a bit stale..I think he is doing the right thing in trying something else and moving on! |

Thats exactly what i thought when i first heard the news. I wonder if they may not have just a chat show there, and do what they have been doing on monday nights and have lots of comedy series (Would I Lie To You?, Omid Djalili, Graham Norton and the news Not Going Out will be in that slot)
I suppose BBC One will have a bit more money to play around with now though |
