A bit stupid to publish a list like this with two weeks left. X Factor is going to improve as will SCD, Doctor Who and maybe Eastenders. Plus the Royle Family and something else may get over 10m.

Kirsty & Phil are set to move from Channel 4 to BBC.
Another blow for C4. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/tvshowbiz...nel-4-BBC.html Kirsty at least has a new series of Homemade Home next year, and I think there is another Relocation, Relocation in the can too. If it did happen though it would be a huge blow - their property portfolio is about the only thing which hasn't bombed this year, though the once great Property Ladder is long overdue for the axe. They ruined it ever since someone took the stupid decision to concentrate on two houses a week, rather than one. |

Tuesday does seem to be such a disapointing night for BBC1 and ITV for 9pm onwards. What advertisers must think of 2.5million viewers on a main channel in winter.
Still around 22 million viewers at 9pm, so multi channel must see an improvemment in share compared to the weekend - even though less total tv viewers. |

Great night for Channel 4.
Think they will do well tonight too with Jamie & The Family. They had an improved week last week too with Kirstie performing well all week. They could turn things around with a little better scheduling. |

Just been looking at the top ten shows of 2010 on Media Guardian. I didn't realise that for highest soap episode of the year, EastEnders had rated higher than Corrie. They are claiming it has... and this is without Christmas day.

Why does no other channel do it, then? Especially one that's showing Corrie, Emmerdale and a big drama?
But that's missing the point really - the point is if one show is able to bring together a peak of 19 million viewers then, for me, that is far more impressive. But people are free to disagree. |

That's a mistake. BARB split the hour special in April because somebody at the BBC forgot to take out the 60 second news update when they submitted the schedule. So naturally the higher rated second half was counted as an individual episode which is misleading, as it wasn't.

Because ITV don't make an effort on Christmas Day. BBC1 get the audience in from early on in the day with the film premiere. Plus EastEnders plays out its big stories at Christmas whereas Corrie is fairly mundane in comparison.

With regards to Christmas, I wish ITV would make an effort, it's not like they can't afford not to. They could shows lots of network tv film premieres alongside some classics, the usual soaps etc. It shouldn't just be left to BBC1 to provide the goods.

Well its an ITV chart. Go to media guardian. If its a mistake it is one that has been logged in the official table.
It'd be like BARB just listing the final 30 minutes of The X Factor final as one episode. |

You mean one show that gets 19 million for 5 minutes is more impressive than the whole of BBC1's Christmas Day viewing?

ITV can't keep relying on BGT and X Factor because one day, they will be gone. I will be surprised if these shows peak at or above 19m next year.

Advertisers spend all their money in the lead-up to Christmas - there's not a lot of money to be made on Christmas Day.

Ive always thought that Christmas Eve must be very poor for advertising rates as no shops are open the next day and hardly anyone at all would be thinking to buy anything on Chistmas Day. |

Theres so few public amenities open that entertainment mediums are almost always househeld. Of which the Television is the bedrock. W&G I'd say is a perfect example, it got what 15m? A figure that would be considered event TV, in my observation it certainly was not one of those water cooler moments that BGT, XF, EE etc are all capable of once hitting 15m. Truth be told had it aired on the fourth Saturday in May as BGT did I dont think it would have managed a square root of that figure. |

Indeed. Whilst BBC 1 put on a fine show at Christmas and that shouldnt be detracted from the conditions of the audience arent nearly the same as say BGT, for example.
