If The Apprentice airs in the summer it will have a clear run. No football or BGT and BB isn't a threat anymore. So it could do better. Strictly may improve if they get better celebs and minimise the overlaps with XF. DOI got encouraging numbers last night, Heather Mills ought to attract some attention so I reckon it will do something similar to last year.

Hard to see BGT or XF increasing short of a sudden increase in the population of the country or snow in the last week of May. Particularly BGT which won't get another Susan Boyle. Then again, lots of people (myself included) said that after the 2008 series!

I'm A Celeb will probably fall a bit although it's success may partly depend on the lead-ins that X Factor provides.

BB should avoid the dramatic slump of BB10 as CBB7 seems to be doing well and they seem to have made a bit of an effort with the promotion.

World cup till July & then a scorching hot summer through till the end of September will mean it will be lucky to peak at 5m IMHO

Well obviously. But that's the motivation behind all celebrity casting on these shows. It's not as though they cast for the best dancers/skaters/cooks. It hardly damages the integrity of the competition (not that the competition aspect is hugely important in the first place anyway).

I think it would be a shame if The Apprentice were to air in the summer, it's a great show and would be better off in the Autumn/Winter.

Agree about SCD. As long as TPTB stop faffing around with the show and have some better Celebs, it should go back on track.

I think XF and BGT peaked in 2009, I can't see it attracting a larger or same audience as last year. A peak of 19m for XF and BGT finals is phenomonal. Hopefully most of the public will now get a sense of reality back when watching these shows. The hype surrounding them is ridiculous.

BB will probably start off quite respectably, have a large fall with low audience for the majority of it's run, there will probably be a large audience for the final.

I could envisage the BBC waiting until after the World Cup before starting The Apprentice. If they did, it would stretch to late September. The numbers would obviously be down in August, but the final few weeks at the beginning of the Autumn season could see a really big boost.

They've got a 'Junior Apprentice' to air this year too (5x60mins). It might not even take a 9pm spot, but they obviously won't air it during the main series. So I think they could wind up airing that after the election and before the World Cup.

What are we expecting for SYTYCD tonight? Total Wipeout had 7.5m in the slot last week, actually dipping from it's lead-in (SYTYCD finished with 8m). Harry Hill is just a clip show and as of 7.30pm it's only competition will be Take Me Out. Plus, the live show looks pretty slick so far.

DOI was so tacky last night, typical ITV fare - watching PS and HW gurn through it, they really do seem to take it seriously without a hint of irony. Can see it settling at about 8.5m once the tabloids get behind it.

Simpsons movie getting a 2nd airing tonight - maybe 2.8million this showing though.

SYTYCD is really p'ing me off.

I don't like dancing shows and yet they're never ending on BBC One's Saturday night schedule

Not enthused by this either - it's basically SCD without celebs, the "class" or the production values.

Has a real ITV "look" about it.

Airing too soon after SCD finished.

(EDIT: Though it does have Arlene. That should be worth 3m viewers shouldn't it, if those who claimed SCD's "decline" was down to her being sacked know what they're talking about...)

Well they don't cost tons and is limited to one channel while providing BBC a way to target the 'reailty' audience and giving the BBC the moral high ground in the industry by bringing forward a minority/shadowed art. Win Win Win for the BBC.

Must admit I'm losing interest in SYTYCD, though mainly because the whole dancing thing just doesn't interest me. Cat Deeley is actually quite good but the judges seem to really ramble on without being "punchy" in their comments. Lythgoe is so busy trying to praise the choreographers after every single performance as well. Plus, as the "head judge" surely he should be last? And I still have no idea who any of these people are because they shot through the auditions process. Even when the audience boo the judges, they sound a bit half hearted. Surprisingly I'm liking Louise more than Nigel or Arlene.

Still, it did pretty well last week and peaked high. Better slot, very weak opposition, should still do well.

And Take Me Out seems like the kind of thing that might work as post pub TV on Channel 4 on a Friday night (when they actually made an effort there!).

I know Take Me Out is not popular on here, but this is the first time i am watching it and i really enjoy it. Two things, i feel it would suit better early evening Saturday or Friday night, also shame they don't alternate between girls and boys.

I think it would suit the 10pm slot on Saturdays quite well. It's definitely a late night show.

I agree with the rest of you're post, but don't understand where the last line has popped up from. How exactly does it have an ITV look about it? For a start off, ITV reality shows are in a much bigger studio, this to me seems really rushed. One audience show, very small studio, not enough time to get a proper' story' for everyone.

Seems quite forgettable.

On a final note, TV Burp finished at 19:26... if DS are the first to update, the last 5 minutes will be knocked off.

Regarding Take Me Out, it's a dating show, so not exactly high brow material. I do wonder if Blind Date was starting out in 2010 whether it would be a success, as people do seem to have a dismissive attitude for this sort of low brow stuff thesedays.

What I meant is that SCD doesn't feel like a TV show coming from a studio, it's a classy set-up and you feel like you're in a ballroom, with a fairly small audience on three sides. It's got a bit of pizazz and glitz about it.

This was a shiny floor show, big open stage up front, minimalist set, audience largely out of sight behind the camera, save when we cut to them to see them waving placards.

As a result, it felt like SCD done on the cheap - as if ITV was doing a version of it.

But ITV talent shows aren't "done on the cheap" - we all know about the big budgets that The X Factor and Britain's Got Talent have. I'm a Celebrity and Dancing on Ice I imagine also have big budgets.

Mind you, I guess Popstar to Operastar on Friday will be 'on the cheap'!

Thought I'd give both SYTYCD and TMO a go tonight. Watched TV Burp first which had plenty of 'laugh out loud' moments. In a way I can see where Robbie is coming from about the show. It is still by far the best programme on television, but the last series has declined in quality from the previous one and these best of shows are showing that I think.

Very disapointed with SYTYCD. I can't take Cat Deeley seriously ever since she did the Peter Kay spoof on CH4 and the judging panel leaves a lot to be desired I think. Then there's the couples, the studio and the format. Way too soon after SCD and I really don't think there is room for another show like this. I think the BBC should have just stuck with Let's Dance which was very entertaining. This seems like it's being made on a very cheap budget and tbh I don't think the BBC thought it would launch with 6.5m and all the signs are showing it's good for 7m+ tonight which is a very bad thing imo and I can't see why people are interested in it so much.

Then there's Take Me Out. Didn't enjoy it at first, but after a while it's actually half decent. The format is good and nice to see ITV trying out new presenters and Paddy is no worse than Vernon tbh. That said did ITV really think this was enough to carry Saturday nights?! Surely they always knew a line up of TMO/M&M/Film was never going to prove a big success and half an hour of Harry Hill won't save them.

I think actually ITV should have aired TMO on Fridays at 9pm and then perhaps put Popstar To Opera Star on Saturdays because the second week of that sees a 90 minute episode. Is this really worth dropping the NaT for??

Another idea (too late now though) would have been to preview TMO after XF one week, which others have mentioned. There it could have managed 6m+ I reckon and considering the view from the show is positive it could have carried 4m+ through to Saturdays.

I reckon it'll be a clean sweep for BBC1 tonight with TW on around 6m, SYTYCD on around 7.5m, Lottery 7m and Casualty 6.5m.

I'm sure ITV could do this show far better than the BBC's pitiful attempt. Sky One's version is far, far superior in every single way and that has surprised me.
