It's amazing that anyone could think any UK network is in trouble when compared to NBC.
On Friday night, Conan had a pop at them on The Tonight Show

And Leno went back for seconds:
Quote:
“ACTUALLY, IF THEY DID CANCEL US IT WOULD BE AN EASY MOVE FOR ME BECAUSE I STILL HAVEN'T UNPACKED FROM THE LAST SHOW THEY CANCELED ME FROM. EVERYTHING IS STILL BACK THERE...SO IT'S NO PROBLEM.
TO BE FAIR, NBC IS WORKING ON A SOLUTION, THEY SAY, IN WHICH ALL PARTIES WILL BE SCREWED EQUALLY. THAT CERTAIN NBC TOUCH.”
On Thursday he said:
Quote:
“Happy birthday to Katie Couric, it's her birthday today. She left NBC for another network. I have to give her call to see how that is working out.
As you may have heard, there is a rumor floating around that we were cancelled. I heard it coming in this morning on the radio. So far no one has said anything to me. But, Kev, if we did get cancelled, it will give us time to do some traveling. I understand that Fox is beautiful this time of year.
The Justice Department announced they will conduct an anti-trust review of Comcast's proposed deal to merge with NBC. An anti-trust review. Which is the relationship i have with NBC. Anti-trust. Hey Kev, what does NBC stand for? Never believe your contract."”
It's just an incredible cock-up. The article below explains everything but basically, NBC want to put Jay Leno on for half an hour at 11.35pm with "The Jay Leno Show" and shift "The Tonight Show" with Conan O'Brien back to 12.05am. They can't put Leno back on The Tonight Show because then they'd breach Conan's contract and have to pay him $50m. The other rumours are that they will keep Leno in primetime but reduce the number of nights that he is on.

So basically:
1) Jay Leno is getting demoted and he's angry.
2) Conan O'Brien is getting demoted and he's angry.
3) Either Jimmy Fallon or Carson Daly are probably getting fired... I reckon they'll be angry.
4) NBC will have 5 hours of primetime to fill... by the start of March. They can't fill what they have as it is.
5) NBC affiliates have rubbish lead-ins to their local news just now.
6) NBC affiliates are still going to have rubbish lead-ins to their local news in March.
7) Producers of scripted content are happy at getting 10pm back but still angry at NBC for ever taking it away.
8) FOX won't rule themselves out of trying to sign up Conan
9) CBS head has been sticking the knife into NBC explaining how every other network is doing well while they struggle
