Also, Conan seems to be getting some public sympathy here and if he goes to FOX then he'll be on at 11pm, half an hour before Leno or Letterman.
Btw, CBS are apparently about to extend the contracts for Letterman and Ferguson until the end of 2012.

It's just different cultures, I think. Like US viewers just don't do Saturday night TV and leave the TV off on Thanksgiving and Christmas unless they're watching football.
They're valuable because they're on 46 weeks a year for an hour a night 5 days a week. They don't face many costs apart from paying the host and they can get half decent ratings.

Another thing, are all the times given East Coast or West Coast times? 
I'd understand it more if they were East Coast times, as it'd only be 10pm West Coast Time .Letterman and Ferguson do quite well for CBS don't they? Not surprised their contract's are being renewed!

The times are really 10.35/11.35 and 11.35/12.35, if that's what you mean.
But I think I'm right in saying that means the East and West coast both get the show at 'their' 11.35.
Looking at this... http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:US-Timezones.svg ...maybe its East and Mountain that get it at 11.35 and Central and West that get it at 10.35?

All times are listed as, for example, 11.30/10.30c
I think that means that everywhere apart from the central timezone (where it airs at 10.30), it airs at 11.30.
American Idol, for example, is listed as 8/7c. But when it's filming live, it's actually 5pm at the studio (as the studio is in LA).
AFAIK, most primetime shows are live on the East Coast and central but the Pacific Coast and Mountain timezones don't get anything live (apart from sport).

It is one of the best things on TV full stop. I know it's fashionable to run down ITV's programming on here but it is a brilliant show and its numerous BAFTAs and British Comedy Awards are testament to that.
you wont hear me say anything bad about TV Burp, (well ok the last series had its problems, but over the years its a very good show) however whilst it is the best thing on ITV, it is not the best thing on TV by a long shot.

I imagine Letterman and perhaps Ferguson are going to bow out in 2012 which is why CBS hasn't extended it beyond two years. They don't a Leno/Conan situation so they are not announcing any replacements until they get confirmation.

Personally, I don't think the budget is an excuse for the continually poorly produced LE shows on the beeb. The sky one LE shows look so slick and professional but probably have the same, if not smaller budgets than their BBC counterparts. From clips I've seen, 'Got To Dance' is head and shoulders above 'SYTCYD'. I don't think it is a coincidence that all these BBC LE shows have exactly the same production team (Strictly, ALW shows, So You Think You Can Dance, Your Country Needs You etc.) and are all quite poorly produced.
I also think that TC1 doesn't suit the purpose for these types of LE shows anymore as it is way too small. Surely there are bigger studios out there in London or beyond.

The biggest surprise there for me actually is CBB. Considering it normally collapses on Saturday's, that is a very solid rating.
Another surprise is that Take Me Out improved on both viewership and percentage share numbers!
Maybe a recommissioning is round the corner? For what is a difficult slot for ITV to fill at this time of the year, I think they'll be pleased with ~4/4.5m numbers. Slightly poor for TV Burp... but it was a 'Best Of'.SYTYCD improved, but only by 500,000, and its second show was down to 5m - I thought it would have been over 7m myself considering poor weather. Still, very good rating though.

Nothing particularly exciting there, although 7m is a solid live show debut for SYTYCD; 5m+ for yet another TW reheating at 6pm is ok.
TMO getting a predictable mini-bounce after suffering from a low lead-in last week due to the football chatter, but it's still not good for a prime-time Saturday night "anchor" show for ITV, in winter.

Erm, then why did it get 5.5m last Sunday at 6.45pm in it's usual repeat slot? last night's episode was a repeat really, so I fully expect it to bounce back to 5-6m when the new episodes resume on January 30. OK for Take Me Out, 4.4m isn't bad at all...not great either, but ITV'll be reasonably happy with it, given how cheap it probably is. It's only about 0.5m off what The Cube was getting last year and that was deemed a smash hit (although it did air in the summer and against Strictly). SYTYCD did very well for the performances, but the show clearly wasn't great as the results rating is a lot lower.
Some interesting ratings there. Lower than expected for Total Wipeout and lower share than usual. Maybe Charlie & The Chocolate Factory did well on ITV?
