Absolutley! If (and it's a big if) England make the World Cup final then i would expect a peak of over 30m.

(28m BBC, 2m ITV )

Dont be so ridiculous, as if ITV would have just 2m of 30m watching. I reckon it would be more like 1.5m watching ITV.

Is the 106m rating for the Super Bowl for the entire coverage or just the match?

The rating is impressive anyway, but if it's including the pre-match and post-match talk then that's even more amazing.

Worth noting that the 1998 World Cup Final (France vs. Brazil) and 2006 World Cup Final (France vs. Italy) had 22.3m and 16.8m (BBC1/ITV1 combined) according to the BARB figures.

So even an England-less World Cup final (let's be realistic) should rate well. Factors such as the teams involved, extra time etc, will come into it. But if we have a similar situation to last time, maybe with Brazil in the final then we could be looking at 16m+ once again.

I think it's exact. NFL football usually is because they have different sponsors for the post-game shows.

The half hour peak (9pm-9.30pm) was 114 million and 153 million people watched more than 6 minutes of the match.

Fantastic figure for Superbowl. Not so good for Undercover Boss though, only holding just over 30m after a 100m+ lead in?

Back to the UK and Dancing On Ice and Wild at Heart see a rise for some inexplicable reason - maybe Dancing on Ice being cut slightly in length helped? BBC1 did excellently upto 9pm, it's a shame Seven Ages of Britain took a hit. Five is doing well with the American Crime drama though CSI appears to be suffering ever so slightly from the numerous repeat offerings.

Fiddle about with the timings, and Burp still can't break the 7m mark without its X Factor crutch.

No, because it wasn't a programme - it was a pop video slotted into the schedule to help Simon Cowell's record sales and massage his ego.

ITV failed to get his winner's song to No 1 at Christmas, the Grimes Twins failed to get to No 1 this month, so perhaps it will be third time lucky with this latest assault on the eardrums...

Isn't it 10 minutes?

Beggars belief.

I wonder how many of them actually understood it?

That's pretty normal given that most Super Bowls finish at 10. The Office did worse with 22m.

Why are you expecting TV Burp to break 7m ? It didn't once break the 7m mark in the overnights last Autumn when paired up with The X Factor. Last Saturday's 6.8m was actually one of its highest ratings ever!

Its much better than what Mumbai Calling got straight after the BGT Final. 18.29m > 5.23m.

Does anyone know when Barb is going to catch up with the top 30s? Or is just going to update every Wednesday and stay around a month behind?

Hi, does anyone know approx the global audience for Superbowls on average? 90+m in the USA but how many world wide in previous years?

I watched last night and CBS claimed a global audience of 1 billion. I refuse to believe it's anywhere near this given the timeslot for the rest of the world and the fact American football is a minority sport elsewhere despite the Superbowl being an event beyond sport.

I reckon when they say 1 billion they are hyping it up based on the fact it goes out to 200+ countries and has a potential rating of 1 billion if everyone in those countries watched it as opposed to actual figures of those who watch. Likewise the british broadcasters always overhype the FA Cup claiming a global audience of 500m-1billion.

Or am I totally underestimating world sports events TV viewership? I can just about believe the World Cup final could just manage 1 billion but surely no other event comes close.

Last year's Super Bowl had a worldwide audience of 106m, but 98m of those were in the USA. Clearly, there's very little interest in the sport outside the States.

This year's Super Bowl worldwide audience would probably have been around 110-120m.

The "1 billion" figures are overestimates based on potential reach etc. In reality, it doesn't get anywhere near what they claim.

Idiotic waste of a good slot.

I maintain that is the best slot of the year on ITV and they gave it to a sitcom that had sat on the shelve for over a year, had NO chance of recommission and, crucially, was abysmal.

In 2009, The Superbowl had a worldwide audience of 106m (98m in the US), slightly behind the Champions League final which had 109m. Chances are that the Superbowl (up to 106.5m in the US alone) will be #1 again this year given its ratings increase and the Champions League may not get a tie with the appeal of Man Utd vs Barcelona.

After them was the Bahrain Grand Prix with 54m and the World Championships 100m race on 33m.

Outside sports, an episode of House had 72m, CSI: Vegas most watched episode had 58m and the top CSI: Miami episode had 51m but none of those figures include the US (add about 12-20m for them all).

I think hes referring to the 2008 rating of 8m tv burp got from being sandwiched between the x factor and its results

World Wrestling Entertainment also used to claim to have half a billion viewers in it's opening titles in the late 1990's, IIRC.

Think it's all just hype really.

Any programme that gets an X Factor sandwich like what TV Burp had on that occasion would get a boost.

But just because it got 7.7m (overnight) on that one occasion, doesn't mean it should be getting 7m+ every single week, which Robbie is suggesting.

And Antiques Roadshow hasnt got 10m again either. Remember the week when they conned the viewers about the £1m antique.... Show should be pulled now as its ratings are 33% down on that week

I heard a figure for the ratings for a football final (a major one, FA Cup, UEFA Cup) it counted everyone who viewed it for 3 minutes as 1 rating, even if that was news highlights.

http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/tv/s57/g...l-ratings.html

Hustle and Law & Order both up on last week by 0.4m but shares are very similar.

Glee almost beats BBC2 at 9pm with 1.09m and 1.13m respectively

Dispatches gets a rating double that it usually gets at 1.5m

Channel Five very strong with both Gadget Show and Paul Meron above 1.5m

As mentioned on the Eurovision thread, Alexander Rybak's (last year's winner) tour diary says that he'll be appearing at the UK final on 12th March which is a Friday. It also says 19:00 but presumably the show won't start till 8:30 after Eastenders and continue on till 10.
