Of course, the lower they fall in the period before Marquess' influence starts to show the bigger task he has of getting the ratings back up to where they should be at around 1.6-1.8m.
but what can he change? most (if not all) of the previous producers episodes are filmed now, they cant really go back and refilm new ones this time with plots by Paul Marques. (I think that is his name)

The only thing you can do is take the show off air for a 4-6 weeks, and then return with all the changes in places, like ITV did with Crossroads. To me that stinks of desperation sure Paul is good, but im not sure C4 will want to do that.

Neighbours has similar problems, and has done since the back end of 2009, it has yet to get to the stage where it ditches its current exec, in favour of someone news. It is to C4s credit that they didnt let this drag out like TEN has with Neighbours. The longer a failing producer stays on the harder it becomes for the new exec to turn things around.

Great start for Chinese Food on FIVE last night-not many programmes make the 1m mark in that tough slot.
I was expecting it to get 0.5-0.6m which is in line with what most programmes in that slot get, if it holds up or even increases, a second series or another series with Ching is likely plus it is must be a cheap show to make as it's funded by Sharwoods, it would to see the breakdown.

It's 1.4m audience is more than good enough for C4, but I don't necessarily think it would do any better. It's perfectly placed for its target audience where it is. It fits well for the E4 brand and I don't think they'd want to weaken the channel by taking away its biggest hit in years.
It gets over 3 Million at the weekends doesn't it?

No.

Maybe that's its total audience across the week?

The Sunday C4 repeat rates closer to 1m I think.

I suspect Glee will go onto C4 next year anyway though, given the big brother shaped schedule hole there's going to be. Assuming Sky don't out bid 'em of course.

I'm surprised they haven't put Glee into primetime on C4, it'd do fine there methinks.
If I were Channel 4 I'd re-run it in a 10pm slot in the summer, maybe running after Big Brother on a night its on at 9pm?

Can't hurt can it? Can only really help boost the E4 audience when it returns for S2.

I doubt they have much else lined up.
What he said!

Well over 2m really. It'll take time though - Bryan Kirkwood was at Hollyoaks well over a year before he really began to turn it around.

I suspect Glee will go onto C4 next year anyway though, given the big brother shaped schedule hole there's going to be. Assuming Sky don't out bid 'em of course.
It's already on C4, and C4 don't really promote shows from E4 to C4. It's fine where it is - I honest don't think it would rate any better on C4. It's not like the BBC where move something to BBC1 and ratings explode - C4 and E4 viewers are savvy enough to find the programmes they want where they're scheduled.

----------------------------------------
Great rating for Midsomer Murders (other sources say it averaged an even better 6.5m), after a couple of underpar ratings recently. The lead-in wasn't particularly good, with Lion Country struggling against Nigel Slater.

Midsomer Murders has dented NCIS for the last 2 weeks it's been on. I can't remember, but wasn't NCIS getting 2m+ on Friday nights? This series seems down from what it used to get.

An average set of Wednesday ratings (as usual) for BBC1. I suppose at least their 'fillers' are getting around 4m, which is okay and in contrast to ITV's 'fillers' which often fall below 3m. Strong set of ratings for C4 between 8-10pm, that might be Embarrassing Bodies' highest rating ever. Unlucky for the show that it's being shifted to Friday nights as soon as it's getting relatively high ratings!

Looks like Supernatural has lost nearly half its audience after the switch from ITV2 to Living. The premiere episode on ITV2 last year had 533,600 (2.4%). In saying that, the ratings were well above the slot average for Living.

Good night for ITV, Midsomer did particularly well with 6.3m. Solid night for BBC1 also with the fillers.

Good also for Embarrasing Bodies on C4, but as from next week it moves to Friday. It seems like Channel 4 is trying to challenge BBC's status as 'crappiest scheduler'.

Maybe he remembered 1.3m as 3m.

Wednesday 10th February Overnights
Midsummer Murders doing well and Channel Four have a strong line-up, but the rest just seem average.
I wonder if Embarrassing Bodies has the same audience as The Sunday Surgery? If it is it would mean quite a lot of teens/students are watching which would be pretty good for 4.

FIVE's ratings seem a bit slacking - haven't they once got higher repeat ratings on a Sunday? And I still don't understand why they can't show more RTL drama in awful slots.

Good to see BARB getting back on track.

Wierdly though, is the BBC One Top 30 not missing off Saturday's shows. On the 16/1, both SYTYCD's and Casualty all broke 5.5m in the overnights but are nowhere to be seen on the officials?

Fantastic, thanks Mike!...

Official BARB ratings for week ending 17th January: Top 10
1 - 11.83m - Coronation Street (Mon 20:29, ITV1)
2 - 11.65m - EastEnders (Mon, BBC1)
3 - 9.96m - Emmerdale (Thu 20:00, ITV1)
4 - 9.10m - Dancing on Ice (Sun, ITV1)
5 - 7.97m - Silent Witness (Thu, BBC1/HD)
6 - 7.81m - Wild at Heart (Sun, ITV1)
7 - 7.23m - Lark Rise to Candelford (Sun, BBC1/HD)
8 - 6.91m - Countryfile (Sun, BBC1/HD)
9 - 6.91m - Hustle (Mon, BBC1/HD)
10- 6.88m - Antiques Roadshow (Sun, BBC1/HD)

6 BBC1/HD, 4 ITV1 that week. Dramas continue to have big timeshifts. I notice on the BARB website, there's no official rating for Casualty for that week!

The One Show just misses out from the top 10 with 6.88m (slightly less than Antiques Roadshow to 3 d.p), which I think is its best ever rating.

I'm not doing the Alternatives chart this week due to the extra BARB updates, but worth noting that Slumdog Millionaire had 5.23m on C4 and 0.336m on C4+1. So overall, nearly 6m for the first showing. Brilliant.

Official BARB ratings for week ending 24th January: Top 10
1 - 11.29m - Coronation Street (Mon 19:33, ITV1)
2 - 10.88m - EastEnders (Mon, BBC1)
3 - 9.15m - Emmerdale (Thu 20:00, ITV1)
4 - 8.95m - Dancing on Ice (Sun, ITV1)
5 - 8.70m - Rock & Chips (Sun, BBC1/HD)
6 - 7.91m - The National Television Awards (Wed, ITV1)
7 - 7.70m - Silent Witness (Thu, BBC1/HD)
8 - 7.25m - Match of the Day Live (Tue, BBC1/HD)
9 - 7.22m - Wild at Heart (Sun, ITV1)
10 - 7.09m - Lark Rise to Candelford (Sun, BBC1/HD)

Even split between BBC1/HD and ITV1. Rock & Chips becomes the most watched new drama on TV since Whitechapel.

Superb for Emmerdale in the first week, unlucky not to make 10m but that has to be its biggest rating in a couple of years at least. Silent Witness again excellent to nearly make 8m.

Second week standout is Rock and Chips, great rating for a great show, there must be a series or more specials made now.

The figures look more like they belong in the first half of the last decade than 2010. Although, its clear the figures are starting to lower the later in January you go.
